Don't you think it's time for Disney to have a black princess?
My three yr old asked me why aren't there any princesses that look like her friend. Which made me wonder as well. Being that these are fairy tells and they are make believe why hasn't Disney made a black princess feature. It seems that is the only race to be missing. With their it's a small world approach how could individuals contact Disney to push this issue forward.
* I understand most of the old fairytale stories were based on white cultures. But with that said Lilo, although not a princess still represents the hawaiian culture and they could at least do a story about black cultures, princess or not.

You and Disney are thinking on the same page. The Princess and the Frog, Disney's next movie, features a black princess. It will be released next year.
However, I agree that it's strange it has never happened before, but hey--it's never too late for equality, right?

While i agree that there should be a black princess, I don't think they should create one simply to fill that gap.
The simple fact is that most of the fairy tales Disney bases it's movies on come from predomintly while cultures. Maybe if they base the story on some African legend or something they'll use a black princess.

It's because Disney classics are based off old stories. All the princess, Jasmine, Cinderella, Alice, Pocahontas, are all old fairy tales(or in the case of Pocahontas, actually real). There just arn't any fairy tales centered around a black princess.
They haven't created ANY new princess lately.
Even if they did create a new princess, the movie probably wouldnt be as good(like most new Disney movies).

i agree with you...disney need to add a black princess to the mix. I'm indian, and i always loved Princess Jasmine from Aladdin as a child. I used to watch the movie over and over. I think adding a black princess would be cool for disney to do.
