How could people who call themselves Christians take pleasure in people going to hell?
http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AlToi...
What is up with that question? How can a christian say that they can't wait until God throws the Atheist to hell? Am I the only one who weeps over the fact that they will be in hell forever? It's not like they're going to jail for a few years. They will be tormented forever without a God to call on. How do you take pleasure in that? Yeah, this is a rant. I just don't understand it. Someone explain to me how you can call yourself a child of God, and have pleasure in someone else torture. God doesn't have pleasure in the death of the wicked. (Eze. 33:11)
fyi: I'm a Christian myself, and that is why it angers me so much. The guy was probably just a troll. I hope he was.
For those of you who don't think that God is not capable of sending people to hell, God is righteous, and just. Because He is righteous and just, He cannot just ignore sin. Therefore, when we sin against an infinite law, justice demands that there be an infinite punishment which is hell. This is why Jesus Christ who is part of the infinite Godhead took on the form of a man, so that He could be a sacrifice for the sins of men. In order for His righteousness to be placed on our record, it is necessary that we believe on His name. God must give justice. The punishment for sin must be paid. If you put your faith in Jesus, God will be able to declare your sin debt paid in full by the atonement of Jesus. If you will not believe God has no choice, but to make you pay for your own sin.
And for those who don't think the Bible says there's a hell:
(Rev 20:11) And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.
(Rev 20:12) And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.
(Rev 20:13) And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.
(Rev 20:14) And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
(Rev 20:15) And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
I hate hell, but that doesn't change the truth. Denying the truth, only makes you more vulnerable to danger.
Trofim L: Yeah your right. I should say that it would go against His very nature.
(Pro 17:15) He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.

dude i just looked at that question...and i just froze...
ppl these days in our society, are falling apart....litterly
i mean what the heck, im a christian, u know sometimes i have to
admit that as a 8th grader, its kinda hard to live as a Christian life, it really is, but that aint gonna stop me from believing in what I believe in....not what other ppl believe in. Atheist have to right to do what they want, its how God made this land...and now hes saying that will we be happy when they suffer?? dude if u call urself a God Warrior, then be the warrior...ok?? go out there, and evangelize...idc if some of u guys think that this is bull crap but its ur decision...i just believe in god and jesus, and i try the best i can do...i love and care for everybody, im not kidding, atheist, mormon, catholic, jewish, doesnt matter we r all ppl anyways but its the end that matters...but we "christians" shouldnt be happy watching them suffer? dude we have to go to those ppl and just show them the opportunitites...and idk when jesus will come, as i said some of u wont believe in this, and its ok, but anyways, when god comes, and he takes the REAL christians who actually does what God says and believes in him, then hoo ray we get to live forever with him...but, if God made this vision, like a orb or a ball that shows hell, and it shows those Atheists burning? dude, i wouldnt even go there...ill be just crying ok? idc i would cry my heart out for these ppl and ill try whatever i could to get them back up here, and ask god 9999999999999/99999999999999 to let them come back, but hey, we r in the world right now so i guess i could start right now and help and save these ppl

It saddens my heart to think that any born again believer, would take pleasure in seeing someone go to hell. We have been saved from going there, ONLY by the shed blood of Christ. We deserve to be there. WE ALL sin and fall short of His glory. The wages of sin is death BUT the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. If anyone enjoys seeing the lost go to hell , I am seriously doubting they are saved themselves, because that is arrogance. We must remember from where we fell.

One Thing. How can a person go to hell, if hell is considered the common grave of mankind. The bible clearly states that. Also some food for thought, why would God want to torture you if he's a loving god.

Well, I won't go so far as to say they aren't Christians...only Jesus can make that determination. However, I would say that they are, at best, incredibly immature Christians who don't understand the essence of the message of Jesus.
I'm with you on thinking extreme sadness is the only possible response to the thought of anyone...even your worst enemy...going to hell. I'm not convinced that all atheists are going to hell...some may just die...but even that is sad compared to the alternative. I can understand why someone might delight in the idea of seeing an enemy punished because I've felt that way...I've just always tried to make a conscious decision to combat those feelings by acting with compassion and love. I don't always succeed...but I can honestly say that I've never taken any pleasure in the thought of someone going to hell.

Quite right.
To quote all the references
Ezekiel 18:23;
'Have I any pleasure in the death of the wicked? says the Lord, and not rather that he should turn from his evil way and return [to his God] and live?' 33:11 “Say to them, ‘ As I live!’ declares the Lord God, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways! Why then will you die, O house of Israel?’
2 Peter 3:9;
'The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.'

No , I don't take pleasure in that thought. I have alot of very good friends that are atheists. They will be the nicest people that God ever had to send to Hell.. But I pray for them so maybe on there death bed or something they will get saved at the last minute.

You seem like a nice enough person, but you lost your argument when you claimed that "God has no choice". This is of course nonsense. Of course he has a choice.
Stating that the almighty god has no choice but to have certain people tortured for all eternity is simply stupid.
Wake up and smell the coffee, sister. We'll make you a whole fresh pot when you join us.

God Himself doesn't want that any should perish, either, but that all shall come to eternal life.
That is why he made salvation free to all.
Yet we can still CHOOSE not to accept that gift.
No doubt God will mourn the loss of any who do not choose that gift ... as should we all. Yet Christians are not perfect, just forgiven and growing toward perfection as they (we) follow in Jesus' footprints. No doubt there are those who have been wronged by people ... and allow their (our) human nature to get the better of them (us) at times.
God help us in those times.

Dear Friend,
A "true" born again/believer/follower/disciple of Jesus Christ; one who lives their life as Christ...finds absolutely NO pleasure in the thought of anyone going to Hell. God Himself finds no pleasure of any soul choosing to reject Christ and going to Hell. Oh my! I would be very afraid of the one(s) who look forward to anyones soul spending eternity in Hell. In fact, they'd better be careful, because there will be many proclaiming they 'know' the Savior, but will not enter into the Kingdom of God.
The word Christian means: CHRIST-like. Therefore a person who proclaims to be a Christian demonstrates who they are "in" Christ by their lifestyle. We are to be imitators of Christ and dying to...SELF.
It is a SIN for anyone to rejoice over someone potentially going to Hell. We are to pray for those who do not know Jesus personally or their blood will be on their hands and they will be held accountable, with severe consequences. Very dangerous NOT to fear God.
Oh, and by the way. God does not send anyone to Hell. Man chooses his own destiny. To either accept Christ as Lord, or not to.

The person in the question you mentioned either A) has some serious anger/revenge problems that they need to go to Jesus with, or they B) are not a Christian, but just a person trying to make Christians look bad.
You are correct in saying we are supposed to mourn for the lost. This person is either deceitful, or severely confused.
