Please tell me why.....?
People lick their fingers and then touch pages in a book!! I have a couple of teachers who do this very disgusting thing. I like both teachers very much, but don't want their DNA on my books and papers! I don't care if they want to do it with their stuff, but what do I say to get them to stop that with my stuff?
To Rachel R: Why would I be disrespectful if I said anything?? Aren't they being disrespectful to my things by depositing their DNA on them? This is just the same as if they put fecal matter on them! Wouldn't you stop someone from doing that?!?!?
To those of you who think I'm being paranoid, I'm not. I'm in the medical field, and so are the teachers, and they should know better than to pass germs around.

OMG!!!!
I thought I was the only person on Earth who is totally grossed out by that! I do not want their saliva on my paper neither. Most times if they hand me one paper and its voluntary to take it, I don't, but if they pass a stack out row by row to the class I usually go for the one they did not pass their germs on!

It's easier to flip the pages if their fingers aren't dry. :P They've probably done it since they were much younger and it's just become subconscious habit. It's a very rare thing for people to do nowadays, as I've become aware.
Just ask them to not lick their fingers before touching your stuff if it bothers you so much. XD Any possible bacteria would die within twenty or so minutes anyway, so it's not like you're in any danger. They might look at you funny if you ask, but if it bothers you so much just asking straight out is the best way to go.

It is rather disgusting. I dont even like my gf to do that to my books and we swap DNA all the time.
Try to find a polite tone to request they do not use their saliva to turn your pages or keep a death grip on your things when asking them questions you can turn the pages for them....they also make stuff called fingertip moisteners, whip out a jar of that next time you call them for help.

i don't think you should say that to your teacher. do they do it like librarians to turn the page? if they do that it's fine. they do so because they dont want they pages too be stuck. I think you shouldn't make a move because the teachers will feel bad and theres no way you can tell them. And about the DNA thingy nobody cares!

they do it so the paper gets stuck to their fingers so it's easier for them to turn the page. i know , it's gross. i mean, i dont think it's gross that their saliva is on my book (okay yeah i do now that i think about it), but the sound it makes when thy lick their finger ewww
i dont think there's anything you can say without sounding rude, sorry =/ maybe you should hold your books next time and not let them take it from you, even though that's kind of hard if they need it :/

Just tell them nicely that you don't like it and ask them if they can stop. Or buy them one of those finger rubber things that help fingers sort papers without licking them. I wouldn't like that either. Papers get stuck together so that's why they do that.

Their saliva acts like glue to the pages which make it easier to flip through the book.
I too feel as though this is a disgusting habit and can't stand to see people do it, either.

They do it so they can turn the page and they dont have the patience to use both hands or more than one finger. Dont tell them anything its disrespectful.

I do it quite a bit actually when your fingers are dry, it makes it hard to turn the page so thats why they do it!

you know what i used to go through that in high school and it is really nasty to me. sometimes they would leave a little drop of spit on my paper and i would have to look away.
but i guess because they handle papers allday, their grip might be gone, but they sell over the counter stuff to help you get you grip back. they use it at the bank's. the stuff is dry to
