Cold weather effect on computer?
My computer is in my sun room here and Michigan and has performed marvelously, throughout the summer. Now winter is nearing and the temperature in the sun room is getting pretty cold. Although my computer is in the room and cannot be snowed on or susceptible to wind getting on it, can the cold affect its performance? I think the temperature will get sub 30's.

to be honest, the cooler & better cooled circulation... the Better !
[ not icy & damp..near frosty windows or doors ]...since I too live in N. Mi. I understand your concern. I'd be more concerned of cold to you.
If you have a more recent p.c [ newer ones have fans built in ] then it should be ok. but you may wanna ck online w/ company or your recommendation's....they give the do's-don'ts & Do Not's !
I ran A.C. in rooms w/ mine [ opposite wall & it was ok ]
Stay Warm...& if you do use a heat souce don't put it too close & warm as that's defiantly not good for p.c.
Source(s): personal & years of use & son & son inlaw w/ degrees on p.c.'s programs etc. & Manufactures recommedations. - MarvinLv 71 decade ago
PCs love cold!
Its heat that is a problem.
Extreme cold will only keep the CPU and memory etc cooler - which will make them more error free and longer lasting
Only problem you might experience is condensation - i.e. water condensing on or in the case. That's more of a problem if you take a cold PC into a warm room though.

It will only really affect the battery which looses its charge the colder it gets.
Don't forget there are companies who make cooling products to keep PCs really cold.
