If Obama really thinks that it is good to redistribute the wealth why doesn't he practice what he preaches?

In 2005 and 2006 the Obamas took in 2.65 million and donated only $137,622. This equates to just a little more than the 4% he wants to raise taxes for his tax bracket. If he was really interested in spreading wealth wouldn't he be giving more of his money to charity? It seems like he wants other to give up their money, but he doesn't want to give up his. He has a lot more wealth to spread around than someone who makes $250,000 a year.

Update:

"United Way et al has little to do with building infrastructure and trade agreements.

Learn something."

Could you please teach me something and tell me what building infrastructure has to do with redistributing wealth. Many forms of charitable contributions go directly to redistributing wealth such as United Way. I agree that we need infrastructure work and wouldn't mind paying taxes for it. I don't want to pay taxes to redistribute wealth.

Update 2:

"You go to work everyday, do you donate your entire paycheck?"

I do not donate my entire paycheck, but then again I have never said that redistributing the wealth is good for everyone.

"Changing a tax bracket has nothing to do with the choice to make donations to a charity.

You are grasping at straws...besides McCain couldn't even recall how many houses he owned...something like 9 was it?"

It seems that you are grasping at straws because I did not mention McCain at all. This is not about McCain. However, if someone seriously believes that wealth should be redistributed you would think that they would redistribute their own personal wealth before they told other people to do so.

To all others who are trying to change the subject this has nothing to do with McCain, Palin, Biden, or anyone else. It has to do with a remark OBAMA made.

i know and he has 6 bathrooms in his house! and Biden only donated a little over 300 dollars last year, and he said it was because he gives in time, well why not both cheap scape,to busy with Botox. besides i don't think real hard workers under $250,000 want hand outs save that for those who really need it like the homeless and sick. besides i know for a fact that $40,000 a year can be comfortable if you live right. Its not poor just bad with money now they can spread that around.

He was only donating 1% until last year when he raised it and most of his money went to Trinity Church. He isn't going to be paying most of his money to taxes because he receives tax free income from investments.

Apparently, voluntary redistribution does not count. It has to be forced, and it has to be enforced. Never mind that the US has a history of giving more money to charity that any other nation. According to our critics, we must be punished!

Bill Gates is evil. Think about it. He came from nothing, and ended up the richest man in the world for a while. He has since dedicated his life to philanthropy. It is enough to make me sick. This guy has the nerve to work his way up through intelligence and innovation, only to help those who are less fortunate than he is. What a real jerk, we should tax him into the ground!.

Source(s): haha "Love Canada" sometimes you really piss me off, but other times you get a big thumbs up from me. Maybe it's because half my family is from Quebec... Anyway, well said!

Poor rich people. I think it is even more unfair to tax the poor and middleclass that work their butts off to pay for wall street pimps.

The Obama's are their own charity they won't give anymore than they absolutely have to give. They are eletists. I wonder how much of the 600 million raised to date has been diverted to a bank account only obama know's about for his personal use after he's out of office.
