California's Proposition 8 - Gay Marriage?

How is constitutionally defining marriage as a union between a man and a woman denying a gay person their fundamental rights?

The government does not recognize marriages between first-degree relatives or more than one marriage at the same time. What if I loved my brother and wanted to marry him. Should the government be able to deny me the same rights as another couple?

Gay people are attracted to the same sex like you are attracted to the opposite sex. Unlike inter-family marriage, there is no risk to a potential child through inbreeding. Unlike marrying an object or pet, it's a relationship between two loving individuals. And unlike marrying multiple people, it can be a comitted, monogomous relationship as valid as any other.

I'm looking forward to the day my best friend can finally get married in his state.

well ill put it this way kay....people drnk before there 21 and smoke before there 18...those ares sins but people still do it! People also have sex before marriage and say cuss words, thats also sin! Gay marriage should be legal in every state! Gay people go through alot more than they have too! My best friend is gay and id be by his siein a heart beat! A person is a person! I bet u tel your kids everyday...dont judge blah blah but your judging! We all create sins each and evryday. Who is the law to say gays cant get married? They want to raise taxes and everything else. Our whole world is judged! Its people like you who make it hard for kis to go to school! Columbin shooting a few years back was probably because some ignorant kids made fun of him for being gay..or fat..or colored! Our world is turned upside down because of judging. Kay if your son would come to you and say im gay..would you turn your cheek? I know i wouldnt id love him and give him respect because other people wouldnt! good luck! =)

It denies us the right to CHOOSE. Say it with me now: CHOOSE. We have as much rights as straights to be able to CHOOSE whether or not we wish to get married, and real Americans would know not to deny a person that kind of right.

Also, let's try to stay in the actual range. Being gay has nothing to do with incest. It has nothing to do with bestiality and marrying cars. Trying to compare gay marriage to marrying your brother is black and white.

This is exactly why marriage should stay as is, between a man and a woman. Once you change this law, then first cousins will want to marry and so forth. If they want the exact same benefits, then that is great, but call it anything other then a marriage. For me because the bible says it is between a man and a women, then that is how it should stay, period.

It seems that gay men in particular just can't win. They are lambasted for being promiscuous, yet if two of them wish to cement their relationship by getting married they are told they are an abomination in the eyes of God. I think people need to be more tolerant; not too many years ago marriage between blacks & whites would have created a national shitstorm, yet how parochial & fascist does that view seem now?

Your right. Why can't i marry 2 or 3 wives. Oops , i get in enough trouble with one. Wait until the gay divorces start. The judge won't know what to do. Whats next marry animals, I love my dog, mans best friend..

this is a subject that is very touchy to most people. they either approve of gay marriage or they dont. i am Christian so there fore i do not. but i try not to judge a person if i can. because Christ tells us not too. so its hard to stay neutral, He tells us that is God place to judge, not ours. i think every person should have rights gay or straight, but that does not mean i approve of what a person does. my oldest son once asked me that, what if i were gay? and i said to him, i would love you just the same, but that would not mean i approved of your choice. nor would i approve if you were a liar or a thief. while i may not approve, my love for you would remain. that is how i try to see things, God would love us no matter what, but we would be held to account for our choices.

  • I don't want my kid going on school "field trip" to a teacher's gay marriage ceremony and coming home and telling me that she can marry a girl if she wants. Sorry. If they want to marry that's one thing but when you force it on me and my kid, that's completely different. Problem is, the gay rights people are never happy with a victory. The push for more and more and that's what really pisses people off. Note on 8.

i think people should be allowed to do what they want if they don't hurt others. if you loved your brother, I would say than marry him, whatever, it's not my business, and I wouldn't care.

And we have to ask these kinds of questions why? Simply put....there has been an ongoing moral decline in the way we live or lives.
