Do any OBs these days let pregnant women go longer than a week past their due date?

before they want to induce them? How do they know the baby's not done cooking for sure?

Update:

My dr is one of those "i won't let u go longer than a week past" To me it seems as if she's trying to fit my labor into her schedule...I mean im all for it if there are signs of stress but if not why rush it? Don't i have the final say regardless of what the doctor tells me?

I went ten days past my due date, so a little over a week. I'm really not sure how they know it's time. I went in for an appointment on wednesday and my doctor said I would be induced on friday if the hospital had room for me.

Yes. They let them go longer then the EDD. They dont know for sure. The only way they will induce if it your past the due date or the baby is measuring much larger. Mother and baby run out of room.

with my 1st baby I went 2 weeks over my due date and had to have a stress test done every 3-4 days in those 2 weeks and I was induced because I had an ultrasound done and my fluid levels had dropped down low....

  • Some do and some don't. Just depends on the doctor. I trust the O.B. doctors. They have delivered so many babies. . .

They usually know when it's the right time to deliver, but you are right. How do they know the baby's not done cooking?! I'd still prefer to go into labor naturally, but if the doctor decided to induce I trust his judgment.

What they did with me was wait two weeks after the term. After that i had to go to the hospital every other day and they checked that my waters were still clear and they gave me a scan to check the health of the placenta. After 6 days of checking they induced me. I ended up having an emergency c-section because the contractions came on so hard with the induction drugs.

My doctor told us that she wouldn't let us or any of her patients go more than 1 1/2 weeks past the due date. I am hoping we go before, of course!!! :0) I guess it just depends, but most won't go past 2 weeks.

Oh yes! I'm with Kaiser and their whole "health group" doesn't induce you till you're 41 weeks not mattering in how much pain you are! Gosh I seriously hope that doesn't happen to me!

How plenty blood? is it pinkish and with sticky mucus, or is it crimson and flowing? it is in basic terms a show, the cervical plug has enable bypass. while the water breaks, the water will bypass to ur knees and the soreness would be worse. U might have began hard work, uncertain, the health practitioner could could examine u for that! reliable success!

the ones around here go up to 42 weeks, if no problems with the mother and baby are evident
