Well, MDK, the good news is that you can probably find the original remote in a tv repair shop seeing how Sharp televisions are very common. Also, many Sharp TV owners say that by pressing the volume up and channel up buttons at the same time will get the menu or pressing both channel buttons. Try any of these combinations and see if they work for you. The bad news is that on some televisions, certain functions cannot be accessed without a remote control. In any case, if the above procedures do not work, the easiest method would be to purchase a universal remote with a menu button.

Now, here are some other tips that I found that may work. METHOD 1

Hold VOLUME UP and CHANNEL UP buttons in while plugging set into power.

TV comes up in service mode.

Press CHAN + or CHAN - to select an adjustment that you want to change

Press VOL+ or VOL- to adjust

    METHOD 2

Turn TV on. Press RESET (in the video adjust menu) to ensure customer

controls are in their proper reset position.

    Momentarily short TP2001 to TP2002.

Press CHAN + or CHAN - to select an adjustment that you want to change

Press VOL+ or VOL- to adjust

    METHOD 3

Momentarily short R2010 near IC 2001, north side to ground

Exit service mode, turn off power & unplug

I had the same problem with a yamaha 5 disc dvd changer recently I bought the remote the that came with it was the wrong one so I bought a universal remote but it would only only let me do standard functions I couldn't get into the setup mode after a little research I ended up buying remote from yamaha replacement parts and it worked.

The universal remote has to have the right program code entered into it to work all functions and there maybe multiple codes that may work but not all functions.

google sharp tv replacement remotes or go directly to sharp

Not if you don't have a menu button.

Poke around on it and make sure there isn't a hidden door with more buttons behind it. Some have the color buttons and a menu button hidden, often behind a front panel that looks like it's molded in. On others you simply must have the remote. You can buy a programmable one for not much money, just be sure it has a menu on it and is compatible with your specific TV.
