A Question about Wealth Redistribution...?

In their rallies, (made up overwhelmingly by folks in the middle class) I am seeing more and more from McCain and Palin, taking shots at Obama for his policy of wealth redistribution. Their point they make, over and over, is that Obama will take YOUR money and share it with others. Well, that would certainly be true if he was speaking to a group of folks who earn $250,000 or more, but not anyone falling below that.

So here is my question....

1. Does John McCain not understand the basics of socialism?

2. Is John McCain - yet again - twisting the words and intentions of his opponent to gain favour?

Yes and yes, McCain has fallen under the control of the republican machine.

In spite of all the rhetoric about being "mavericks" McCain and Palin have played into the GOP game and now they can't get out.

McCain is lying pure and simple. If you don't have a record to run on, like the GOP, you have to win elections by dragging the level of debate down.

If you know that if people would understand the issues there would be no way they'd vote for you and against their own best interest but you still want to win because winning matters more than the democratic will of the majority in your view, you have to do everything you can to confuse the people and misrepresent the facts.

So you use demagogy, demonization, anything to prevent the people from understanding the issues and facts. The constant lies, distractions and phony outrage we've seen from the McCain campaign work on some. it are those people who are willing to give up their tax cut for the benefit of the elite. They simply don't understand and get played on their cultural and religious sensitivities. They are victims of foul propaganda and lies, something, maybe the only thing, the Republicans are very good at.

McCain on Larry King recently and Palin on another occasion have both conceded Obama is not a socialist.

With that John McCain admits he's knowingly lying to try to win votes every time he calls Obama socialist.

All the campaign talk and media chatter about "socialism" obscures the most fundamental issue: Socialism is not merely a set of technical measures involving state intervention into the economy. All capitalist nations engage in this to one degree or another, depending on circumstances. State ownership does not in any sense define a society as socialist, when the state itself is an organ of class rule controlled by the financial aristocracy.

Socialism means the reorganization of economic life under the democratic control of the actual producers, the working people whose labor creates all wealth. It can come about only through the independent political mobilization of the working class, led by a revolutionary party, which establishes a new and far more democratic form of state, a workers' state, which exercises ownership and control over the means of production. Socialism cannot be engineered through backroom deals between Wall Street bankers and Washington politicians, or through the policies of any Democratic or Republican politician.

I view it as returning what was stolen. Most wealthy people got that way through some sort of wheeling, dealing or stealing. It is a truism that there can be no great wealth without great crime. Many wealthy people have gotten breaks from the government in land deals, favorable laws, cushy contracts, etc. etc. Since it is a stacked deck, they should pay higher taxes or help the poor on whose backs they attained their wealth. Righties will always whine that the rich got rich through hard work. Yeah, right, it's hard work cheating, paying unfair wages, driving out your competition unfairly, getting a government to invade another country so you can control their resources, etc. Americans always refer to Bill Gates as a self made man. What a joke! His father, a rich corporate attorney, gave him $500K to start his business. His father also helped him prey on other companies with the same ideas, sue anyone who had any idea that was the least bit similar, tie up intellectual property rights and in essence, create a monopoly using the model of Rockefeller's Standard Oil. Europe and South America have been prosecuting Microsoft for monopolistic and predatory practices for years. Bill Gates knows he is a crook, it is why he does all the charity as public relations so we don't ask why only Microsoft products go into PCs and are incompatible with any others.

It's also worth pointing out that $250k PER PERSON (not per couple) is the point where Obamas tax plan is at the same level as the present one. Everyone earning less than $250k stands to gain significantly more from Obama, than McCain.

McCain understands that socialism takes money from the very wealthy and puts it in the hands of the middle and working classes. He also understands that the word "socialism" is scary to many Americans.

Evil socialism may provide you healthcare, educate your children, support you through unemployment and make you richer, but the fact it's a scary word is more politically important than what it actually means.

So yes, McCain is using fear to encourage Americans who certainly would benefit from Obamas tax plan to empathize with the super rich against their own interests.

McCain has been running a smear campaign from the beginning. Fortunately, I think there are enough of us out there who are not brain-washed by Fox news & Rush Limbaugh.

The lines at the polling places tell you that people are ticked off & fed up.

    1. Yes John McCain understands socialism, which our country has been heading that way for years with all the government run programs.

    2. No, John McCain is only reading between the lines, which you should try. His opponent has guaranteed the American ppl that he will raise taxes on what $250,000.00 base? Read between ALL the lines, and it will only be a matter of time b/4 anyone working, earning a salary will see an increase. If not b/4 2011, then definitely 2011.

I don't want what my neighbor has, I want to earn my way thru life without some government official telling me how to spend my earnings.

The following are the current US tax rates:

    2000-2008 Tax Rates

    0-$8,025……..10%

    $8,025-$32,550….15%

    $32,550-$78,850…25%

    $78,850-$164,550…28%

    $164,550-$357,700…33%

    $357,700 +………….35%

Obama has suggested changing the rates; increasing the percentages for those who make over $250K and decreasing the percentages for the middle class. This would increase spending power for millions of Americans and help our economy recover. It would also have little effect on the rich as they can afford it. McCain and the Republicans think the rich and big corporations should receive the tax breaks. Not me. I'm voting for Obama.

I just wonder why the Republicans have been performing wealth redistribution through Regan and Bush Jr. and nobody has called them on it. (From the once robust American middle class, to the Ultra wealthy Paris Hilton types)

Do you plan to sell a home? Your money will be redistributed. Do you plan to take a cruise or fly anywhere on a commercial jet liner? Your money will be redistributed. Do you plan to buy anything from a retail store of any kind? Redistributed. How about a retirement account? How about leaving any money to someone through inheritance? There are tons of ways the feds get ahold of your hard earned money. Not just income tax, etc. Our "leaders" confuse you with the one thing you see on your paystub every week. The devil is in the details.

That number will change dramatically once they realize that they can't afford their trillions in new spending by raising taxes on people making only 250k or more.

When all is said and done, it will be a tax increase on married couple with a combined income of 100k.

Politicians lie - especially when it comes to taxation. To tell the truth guarantees they won't get elected.
