Does anyone else feel like the media is fear mongering and that the only ones in trouble are...?

the people that over extended themselves on credit? It seems to be that the only people affected so far are people who shouldn't have gotten the credit in the first place.

Update:

The fear mongering leads to people taking money out of stocks and investments because they get scared. If the media would report more accuratly, there would be less fear and less impact on the economy.

Look at the price of oil and how it has dropped recently, yet all the major oil companies are posting record profits of anywhere from 5 to 14 billion for the third quarter.

I do, and this is happening hand in hand with the elections. Nothing like whipping up more fear than necessary, at a time when Obama is running and making huge promises to get those frightened, weak minded voters to vote for him.

No, I worked in a manufacturing company (Till last week). We were doing great, having the money market funds dry up seems to have had a huge affect. The orders are trickling in, stuff that had been ordered from a China company is put on hold, pallets of valves ready to ship are just sitting around. If this keeps up you will be seeing Major American manufactures go belly up, leaving thousands without jobs.

I think we have all fallen into that category, too much credit. The Banks hooked us in and now because of their greedy tactics we are all in trouble.

My husband works for the building trade, and work has fell so much that every week they close another plant down. So this is not scare mongering this is bad economy and lack of investments. Plus the greedy people at the top of the tree who are now pulling in and not investing in projects. Greedy oil men who make ridiculous profits.

The evidence is all around if you care to check it out. Bad government control and greedy profit makers.

    That's how I see it.

It all makes for a negative attitude and sends out negative energy and eventually we all believe it and go along with it all.

What makes me laugh is that supermarkets are lowering their prices daily in competition with each other, yet they are still making big profits.

    Makes you think a bit.
