Take out all the cards and USB devices you have on your computer. If you have an onboard video card, use it.

Put in one card at a time and see if it'll boot. Video card should be first. If it won't boot with the video card, try to get into safe mode to remove the drivers. If you can't do that, try to get into Bios.

Your video card may be bad.

Once you get to the point where you can boot up, put your cards back in one at a time and see if any of them are the problems.

    hi bubble

the message "ati2dvag" indicates a bug that affects ati graphic cards and it causes a blue screen of death and in some cases a infinite loop error message

the usual symptoms of this problem include :

    1) PC crashes without warning, sometimes the display shows weird patterns before the crash.

2)Resolution may revert to the lowest resolution settings upon restarting your PC.

3)The CPU temperature may shoot up prior to crashing.

4)PC may not be able to reboot back after the crash, unless you turn off the power supply unit of your PC and switch it back on again.

5)Your PC tells you (sometimes only) that the ati2dvag driver has failed to function.

do not worry about this problem as it happens to many thousands of p.c,s worldwide, and theres been many suggestions put forward why it happens including sp2(service pack 2) incompatibility, and hardware acceleration settings

as for solutions the two most common are :

    1) Reinstall the ATI driver. You are advised to launch Windows in Safe Mode (press F8 before Windows boots), go to Windows Add/Remove programs and uninstall everything ATI. Remove the DAO/MDAC component as well. You can use the ATI removal tool utility which can be downloaded from the ATI website. The complete set of instructions on removing ATI can be found here on the ATI website.

    2) Go to System Devices in My Computer > Properties > Hardware, and locate the option, PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge. This could under other names on your PC, so contact your PC vendor if you’re unsure. Right click, and select the “update driver” option. Manually search and install the PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge.

the annoying aspect about this problem is that neither ati or microsoft have released statements in regards to this problem and this is one of the reasons i steer clear of ati cards, their compatibility with both windows xp and vista is suspect to say the least

anyway give these a go and let me know if you have any problems

    good luck bubble !

Hello well this appears to be your graphics card driver.

If you are using an USB keyboard and mouse you need to change these to a normal PS2 mouse/keyboard.The purple and green port type.

Then restart and go into last known good config or safe mode you need to uninstall the ATI graphics card driver and reinstall a new one via there website support page.

You can uninstall the driver via device manager.

    I hope this helps?

    JB.

If you can get into safe mode then uninstall the ati drivers, then start in normal mode. Reinstall the up-to-date drivers for your graphics card/graphics chipset. That should fix it. If you cant get into safe mode then the only option is to reinstall windows im afraid.

Seems as if this is a very common problem with no solution offered up by Microsoft (possible compatibility issues with SP2 and ATI) or ATI themselves.

The two most "common" solutions are to reinstall the ATI driver or, "Go to System Devices in My Computer > Properties > Hardware, and locate the option, PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge. Right click, and select the “update driver” option. Manually search and install the PCI standard PCI-to-PCI bridge."

    Hope this helps.

Format the D Hard Drive i don't know why you have system files on it in the first place Reboot your laptop and enter the BIOS setup select boot priority to your DVD/CD drive as first in the list If your Vista install Disc is genuine insert it now and boot from the DVD Do a clean install of Vista. Don't know why the hell you're trying to install from cmd.exe

When you boot up, press the Esc key for bios options...sounds like you have it set to re-boot when a critical error is found, so it's going in a loop.

You need to try to run checkdisk. You can run it from boot, its on the xp startup but i dont remember the f-key command though. Anyway the dos command is chkdsk c:/r It will check the disk for errors and repair them

    it says ATI

Im guessing it has something to do with the graphics card not working

Try replacing your graphics card with another one

Get an older 1 1st though to make sure it is the GPU thats the problem not something else

    Hope this helped
