A question about childrens nutrition?

We have very healthy breakfasts and dinners, I cook dinner every night - no fried food, lots of fresh veggies. Breakfast usually consists of Kashi cereals, occasionally eggs, oatmeal...

For lunch my 3 children eat ck nuggets and tator tots, fish sticks and tots, soy butter and jelly, and once a week mcdonalds hamburgers with apples instead of fries. I give them fruit with all their lunches. We sometimes eat leftover dinners... Is the nuggets, fish sticks and tots, and mcd's every week unhealthy in your opinion? Any ideas for quick and easy lunches? (note allergy to dairy eggs and peanuts)

The tots really dont count as vegetables, espcially that often, and by your fried comment above, Im assuming you are baking them - which is better.

Id only suggest swapping out the processed chicken and fish, with actual chicken and fish. Different kinds of fish can vary hugely in their nutritional value (and check on the mercury thing) Those mcdonald apples have preservatives too in them Id imagine. Id only stick with them in a pinch.

Check out target for some of the fun veggie mixes. Our kids really like the edame (sp?) soy beans, and shooting them out of the pods into a bowl. We'll do a little bit of soy on these to add flavor. They have ones too with carrot balls, baby corn, fun stuff that kids think are silly, and the steam in bags are handy. Theres some great kids cookbooks out at the library/bookstores with easy, fun, healthy ideas, but you can always do the eggs for lunch too, have kids help make meatballs, and mash anything like sweet potatoes, avacodo, etc.

Well i consider those as fast foods, cause they come frozen and all you do is stick them in the oven. My son is 2 and for luch or dinner i feed him spaghetti, baked chicken, chicken soup, porkchops in the oven, or squash with tomatoe, and he eats alot of beans, then to snack he has a fruit with peanut butter, and candy when his dad comes home.

For breakfast i make him eggs with weinies (his fav) pancakes, or cereal.

I dont consider the fish sticks nuggets or tots healthy, but every once in a while dont hurt to feed it to them.

The Mcdonalds apples are stored in less healthy syrups to keep them fresh longer. But its still better than fries. And you do bake these things, thats better than frying. At least you take the time to make sure your children are eating when they are supposed to and you take out the time to do it yourself. Its very admirable to me! :) I think the other suggestions are very good ideas.
