Big flea problem can someone help?

I have two cats one is a Himalayan cream colored flame point and a Persian dark colored. My Persian doesn't seem to have fleas as bad. My Himalayan has flea so bad nothing I do is working. I have bombed the house, used knockout e.s.spray from vet, advantage plus and revolution from vet. I also tried washing my cats in vinegar, dawn dish soap and regular flea and tick soap/spray. I have had flea now for 3 to 4 months and I can't get rid of them. I bathe my cats once every two weeks. The vets can't seem to help me other than me keeping the flea treatment on them. I do every month I use both treatments. I am at my wits end and thinking abouts getting rid of the cats. I never had this problems before, can someone help?!

    Diatomaceous Earth

is the primary active ingredient in these products to control numerous pests, particularly, ants, fleas and ticks.

You can rub this into your dog or cat's fur it's so safe. Insects cannot become immune to it because, it's a mechanical insect killer, not a chemical. Insects come in contact with this powder and die of dehydration within 48 hours. Safe for use in kitchens, on carpets and in the area where your pet sleeps. Diatomaceous earth has been used in Asia to control insects for 400 years.

you can buy it at a feed store or garden center do not buy it at pool supply as the stuff is different for pools click on link below to learn about the stuff

Try a different vet--get some prescription strength flea dip--not the stuff you find over the counter at walmart. Dip the cats. Then vacuum your house twice--discard the bag outside as it will be crawling with the little beggars. Get some BENGAL from Walmart--it's a spray insecticide and is very good. Spray all carpets-floors with the stuff. Wait about ten days, dip the cats again--and then bomb the house with raid flea bombs (to get rid of any fleas that hatched from eggs after the first massacre lol). This will eliminate the problem. Once under control the revolution will probably be sufficent.

Nothing you have done has addressed the adult fleas, larvae and eggs. You need to get her to the vet and get a pill called "Capstar", that gets rid of all fleas within an hour - then you put Advantage or Frontline on the dog, on the back of her neck - and do this every single month. This eliminates adult fleas, larvae and eggs. All those flea baths just get rid of some adult fleas and they dry out her skin and hartz is garbage, doesn't work, neither do flea collars. Put a topical liquid like Advantage or Frontline on your dog every month - no more fleas. You now need to de flea your apartment, vacuum all sofas, bedding, wash lose bedding, yours and the dogs - and then throw away the vacuum bag. The key to flea control is prevention - no collars, baths, cheap liquids work - Advantage and Frontline do - if you have a tick problem too, use Advantix or Frontline Plus. The Capstar is a one time pill you get from your vet. Good luck, don't bother with dips, baths, collars, sprays - they don't work. By the way, your dog also needs a monthly heartworm preventative - ask your vet - it is cheap in generic form and keeps deadly heartworms out of her bloodstream (also prevents some other worms). Heartworms are very prevalent - carried by mosquitos - the cure is very hard on the dog and expensive - heartworm is eventually fatal --- and it is very easy to prevent. Every month - topical flea liquid and a heartworm preventative - just a few dollars prevents a lot of misery.

actually, you are in the wrong section, but a good flea treatment is salt. just salt your carpet, let it sit for a day or two, and vacuum it up. keep the salt in the carpet for as long as you can. after a few weeks of this (salt vacuum, salt, vacuum, etc.) the fleas will be gone. they don't like salt. and it's much healthier for your cats too, the chemicals are bad for the cats. The fleas eventually become immune to the chemicals and it won't work anymore. you could even try bathing your cats in salt water. just make sure to keep it out of their eyes! ;)

    Good luck!

since fleas only spend about 25% of their time on the animal, treating the cats alone isn't totally effective. use advantage/revolution every 2 weeks. one thing I found very effective in control, is to sprinkle borax (laundry additive) on your carpet & furniture. it is not harmful to cats. it acts a a desicant (dries out & kills fleas & eggs). after 3 or 4 days, vacuum. repeat every 2 weeks.

    good luck!

Don't let the cats out. You need to keep up the treatment constantly for a long time - most treatments won't destroy the eggs so you need to make sure the fleas don't get the chance to hatch and lay more eggs.

well, other then the treatments you have tried, I know ceder bark works. Fleas hate ceder. I live in Seattle, where ceder bark is everywhere, and cats love to lie down in it to get fleas off. you might have to put a bunch in a box and shut your cats in or something. Note that it doesn't kill the fleas, it just makes them want to get away from the bark.

Have your lawn sprayed. Being indoor cats means nothing fleas can and will get in under the door.

you have to bomb your house and treat your yard too when you do this.

i don't know if "contact" the flea medicine for dogs will work for your cats but ask your vet.that is the only thing that worked with our dogs. One dose and we bombed the house and no more fleas.
