family always cuts down my hair?
I am the only member of my family that lives away from the town that we grew up in. I see my family maybe 6 times a year. Anyway..every time my family ( sister , mother & brothers ) see me the first thing out of their mouth is .."Jeesh what did you do to your hair?" This wouldn't bother me so much but I am the only one in the family who has a full head of hair. Everyone else is bald or very thin. The last time my sister and mom came to visit they got out of the car ( I met them in the yard) and the first thing they said, even before they said hello was "What happened to your hair?) I purposely had it styled and colored before they came just to avoid any remarks. I have just a shoulder length layered cut and a normal medium brown with blond highlights...nothing weird. I don't want to get snotty with them but this really bothers me. Any advice?

No way you deal with this without seeming snotty. You will have to either learn to ignore them, or say 'I love my hair". They are not "putting you down" they are using words that sound envious, like how can your hair be like that and not like their hair.
Maybe you should offer to groom their hair one day, if you have time. Or share some tips with them. Do not let someones inadequacy degrade how you feel about yourself. You take care of your hair, its' healthy and full and you did not get their hair "genes".

You're independent now - Your family's right to tell you what to do ended the day you moved out !
Tell them to mind their own ! It's YOUR hair - style it any way YOU want - If they don't like it - TOUGH !

Yeah tell them to shut up. They're just jealous you have nice hair, that's all. Don't feel bad about yourself, there's no reason to.

jealousy is a curse.
