Your question shows a pretty bad understanding of the history of tax rates. The marginal tax rate on the highest income earners under Reagan was 50%. That meant that if someone made a million dollars, they would pay $500,000 in tax. He lowered it to 38.5% at the end of his second term. Clinton raised it to 39.6%, Bush W lowered it to 35%. McCain's plan is to leave it at 35%, while Obama favors returning it to the 39.6% level set by Clinton.

Using the horribly incorrect verbage of the current campaign, one could say Obama is 21% less socialist than Ronald Reagan, whereas John McCain is 30% less socialist.

So in answer to your question, I would say that "what is wrong with America" is that people easily accept distortions of the truth as reality, and refuse to study the issues for themselves.

Where are you from Mary? You sound very bitter. Do you feel like you got out of life what was promised you? OK so you worked hard and earned what was promised you. Why should that make you begrudge someone who got the same thing you did, but worked less hard. Their situation does not devalue your agreement, you got what was promised you.

That reminds me of a parable Jesus taught about the workers who cried because everyone that worked got paid the same. You got your part, why do you care how or why someone else got their part?

Bush took away much of what you did and gave it to the rich. Obama is not taking from you and giving to the lazy, he's taking from the rich and giving it BACK TO YOU.

You're fighting him as he tries his hardest to get back what you worked for and was TAKEN AWAY from you; and now trying to get it back to you.
