God prefers truth over tact, I'll go for the truth as well.
Having had it both ways, I'd rather my feelings get hurt by the truth than have my feelings spared by deceit and tact. Woulded feelings can be repaired, but the rebuilding called for after a lie is deep, broad and time consuming.

It depends on what the situation is. If someone is going to be hurt if you do not tell the truth, go truthful. But it's better to be tactful otherwise.

Part of being tactful is being able to be truthful in an appropriate and professional manner.

Tactful - because sometimes people hurt others in the name of "truth" and they think that they are noble doing it.

truthful. because it means you're showing the person respect. in too many of my travels around this country though, 90 percent of people are tactful. but the first ones to complain that people aren't being "real".. get real.

Being truthful while being tactful. They don't have to be mutually exclusive.
