What have you endured in this historic election in order to cast your vote?

I just waited in line, in the cold, wind and intermitent rain for 4 hours and 15 minutes to cast my vote for the next President fo the United States, Barack Obama. ANd it was worth every second jsut to say I did.

What are your stories on this Historic Election day?

Update:

Let me clarify..I didn't want to make an excuse to not vote by saying "the line is too long" I thought it was important enough to wait and cast my vote.

Update 2:

Wow. M.B. that's pretty harsh..True story though.. I just got back.. I got in line at 10:30 this morning and it was 2:45 when I finished voting

Update 3:

Well...I was kind of hoping for stories of making sacrifices to excercise your right to vote..We obviously are going to have a record turn out and no matter who wins I am proud of that. People have stopped taking elections for granted and sacrificed real time and effort to vote. I was so hungry by lunch time I almost called in a pizza order..lol!I would have never imagined waiting in line 4 hours to vote before today. And regardless of who wins tonight, our nation and its Constitution and Foundation is strong and it will endure.

I left my house, voted, and was back home in fifteen minutes. And I haven't gone to Starbucks to get my free coffee or to Chick-a-fila for my free milkshake yet...just for voting. As always...a piece of cake.

Of course, I work mostly midnight shifts and get off of work at 8am, so even with a 4 and 1 year old, I am afforded the luxury of going to the polls during the down times, like 10:45am (plus I know better not to go during the high peak times-but I have the flexability that most others do not enjoy).

Thumbs up for everyone who've tried their best to vote. For the past few years we've weakened terrorists organizations and strengthended our national security. We need a strong president. I voted for John McCain. I hope other voters can see this: The world just wants to weaken America's position & that's why they are doing their best to help Obama -- the weak/opportunist/leftist/pro-moslim-countries/anti-American guy -- to win. And of course the Moslims and terrorist countries want that too. Sorry for those terms but that how I see his not-so-great character.

I endured having to detour on my way into work by about a block and taking out maybe 10 minutes of my warm, sunny day to vote. (Yes, it was rough.)

Perhaps someone should complain to your local election folks about having to wait around like that. There's no reason people should be waiting around for hours like that when some parts of the country that do actually have people living there never seem to have waits of more than maybe half an hour when it's busy enough for there to be one at all.

I voted for Obama and nevertheless help him, yet I by no ability had illusions approximately him. absolutely everyone who has examine is books and observed him is accustomed to he's a reasonable no longer a liberal. In situations like this he became into the excellent we are able to do, and he's finished a good pastime on some key matters, including his stimulus spending became into directed in direction of option power, infrastructure matters, and practise (in assessment to Reagan's stimulus, which additionally created checklist deficits, yet became into directed in direction of protection tension spending) and his healthcare reform became into the beginning up of a few thing very useful. I additionally think of he's inspired tens of millions of people, and confirmed minorities that even in a usa the place the 2d best party has long fought racial, gender, religious, and sexual orientation equality, absolutely everyone may be president. His election became into additionally a surprising image to something of the international, which looks to oftentimes be mired in racial, ethnic, and non secular conflict.

"And it was worth every second jsut to say I did."

I have the feeling most voters are in it for this reason.

Obviously the event of voting for bragging rights trumps any issue. The election process, obamas voting record, the reason for the constitution, and american history are most likely the furthest thing from your mind.

What did I endure? I endured years of tv telling me the same 4 things over and over.

    I listened to

    "oama good, mccain bad"

    "mccain good, obama bad"

    "democrats and republicans are different"

"3rd partys stand no change so ignoe them"

    and variations of it.
