A Poem for Sambuca
By Jonni F.
Love at first sight,
the small black pup and I.
Eyes like midnight,
that seemed to look
into my soul.
(and loved me anyway)
Nothing but love,
this small black pup,
for everything and everyone.
Wagging her whole body,
love shaking off her
with every move.
A decade and more
of unquestioning love.
Never wavering,
never a doubt.
Held the paw
of that small black pup,
and stroked her silky fur,
The midnight eyes looked into mine...
with love at last sight.

Well written. I especially like the line 'love shaking off her' . Perfect mind picture at that one.

I have a hard time reading or hearing about the death of an animal. It`s so sad too loose a good friend. And believe me they can be better friends than some people. In the past two years I lost two cats and a dog. They all reached the age of 15 yrs. They led good lives and gave back to be in more ways than I can count. I now have one dog left. Taz, she is the love of my life. She`s almost 12 yrs. She`s having some problems now. I now just enjoy my time with her one day at a time. Sorry for your loss.

Love at last sight, I remember my little dog Jack, with tears. Well written tribute to your great dog.

The loss of a life long pet/companion is the hardest damn thing to deal with.
Nicely written.

Well expressed. The universal tragedy--losing a pet which (who) becomes more than an animal to us.
