The Romans tried to conquer the world and couldn't, that is until Christianity, Do you think they succeeded?
John D. I think "Spin" was invented before our time. If Jesus was not crucified would he still have been remembered as he is today? They made him a martyr, but why?
They controlled the world, but did they control the people?

Yes. Throughout history, Christians have developed some rather creative methods of population control.

Christianity rose from the teachings of the man we now call Jesus Christ. The Christian church and the Bible were formed as a way of controlling the religion and so the people. After the time of Christ many different forms of Christianity developed. Some believed he hadn't been crucified or that he had but survived. There were hundreds of stories flying around. The Roman Emperor consolidated Christianity into one religion with one creed, the Bilble, created as a source. The Church that was formed became the Roman Catholic church, from which almost all sects of modern Christianity came, including evangelical and baptist, protestant, JV, mormons etc.

Christianity was formed to save your soul from hell. However, non- christians hated the fact that they had to obey commandments that they promptly killed the prophets and corrupted the scriptures. This plunged us into the dark ages lasting from 400 a.d. to 1830 a.d. The age on enlightenment did not begin until people got it right. The last 175 years brought about amazing developments and inventions. Is this a coincidence? I don't think so. God's true church is again on the Earth and it matches the progress we have seen. Christianity was formed to unite people, not to control them.

No. As interesting as that theory may be, it is completely at odds with everything we know about the history of Christianity. For starters, if Christianity were meant to control the population, then why did the Romans spend three centuries trying to stomp it out?
(The Romans actually did control the known world prior to adopting Christianity. I'm not sure what world you think they were still trying to conquer...)

No, but it's reasonable to believe that the Romans used it as away to maintain control of their people. I'm not too big on the history of Ancient Rome but I always thought their golden age of rule ended long before Christianity became the state religion.

The media is now the best way to do this controlling the population without the population knowing they being controlled

Can't see many Romans around these parts. Just us Holy Romans. Greed controls the population and whoever manipulates that has ultimate power.

Christianity came out of the middle east as an alternative to Judaism, same as Islamic beliefs. It wasn't until it spread to Rome (and they didn't like it for the first few hundred years, then the people of Rome took almost 900 years to get fully on board, why do you think we have Christmas trees and bunnies) that its potential was noticed as a way to get rich and control the masses.
Hope of kingdom we are all now a little more stupid because of your answer.

What a strange idea. No, I definitely don't think it has anything to do with population control at all. It is to do with salvation.
Do try reading the Bible it really is helpful.

Please double-check your history. Christianity only became a part of the Roman Empire after it had reached its peak. But I would say that, yes, it was basically adopted as a political move not only to appease the growing Christian faction but also as a religion that could easily be molded given its youth.

It was formed as a way of controlling the population, only to be kept illegal for 300 years and its followers killed? Yeah, that makes sense.
