What animals can cause a human's death within 24 hours, but still allows them to function for most of that?

I need some sort of animal/insect/living creature whose bite or sting or spit causes a death that is almost assured, but allows the victim to function (more or less) for most of the time before death. It would be really awesome if the poison was untreatable with today's medicine.

Update:

please include additionally, how long until death. (if you have that information.)

Bushmaster - up to 12 ft. long, wet tropical forests of C and S America

few bites occur, but mortality rate (death rate) is high.

    No antivenin is available.

I don't think thats true. A polyvalent Crotalidae Antivenin can be used to treat a Bushmaster snake bite.

I don't know of any animals that fit your description. Funnel Spiders are pretty freaky. They are found in Australia and their bite can kill someone between 15min and 3days. However, it would be very unlikely that the person would function normally in that time period.
