Should I pay for parents' food at a b-day party at Chuck E Cheese?
I booked a birthday party for my soon to be 3 year old at Chuck E Cheese. We plan on inviting about 10 kids from his playgroup and church. It is on a Saturday lunch time. Would it be expected for me to also pay for pizza for the parent(s) who bring the kids? I am thinking I probably should since they are nice enough to bring their children, right?

Normally, it is the polite thing to do, but in your case,
buying the children pizza and possibly drinks is polite enough.
Most parents won't be expecting you to buy them food anyways.
If you want to go all out, by the parents food. They will be surprised
and very thankful. If you decide not to, the parents will still be thankful
since you are inviting their children.
Either way you win. (:

You could do that, but if you decided not to just state that on the invitations. I'm sure the parents that are there won't be heart-broken if they can't have a slice of pizza, after all it is for the kids.
Ofcourse they shouldn't expect a full meal from the birthday party, and most probably won't have a slice until after the kids have had their share. I'd just wait until the day of the party, see how many guests actually show and add up the adults... you might decide that you want to order an extra pizza or so, depending on what's left of that - that came with the package.

From past experience.... We had my granddaughters birthday party at a pizza place and the pizza is included with the price of the party. I don't know how many you will get but we got 3 large. Kids at 3 years old doesn't eat enough pizza to eat 3 large. So there was plenty of pizza left for the parents to have at least 1 piece each since they weren't going to make a pig of themselves in front of everybody. LOL If you don't think this will work for you, do whatever you feel you need to, if you buy it and it isn't ate you can always take what is left home. Pizza party later on.

I use to work at Chuck E. Cheese when I was in high school and they charge a lot of money to do bday parties. It's better to just bring in your own cake (the cake they provide is NOT very big at all and not worth the price they charge) and buy the pizza and the tokens. People usually just go to CEC's for the games anyways. That's just my take on the birthday thing.....
To answer your question, yes you should probably buy lunch for the parents also.

When we had my niece's party there, my brother and sister in law bought a few extra pizzas for the parents that decided to stay ... because the birthday plan she got was slices of pizza, etc for the kids. So she didn't include the parents in that because she wasnt sure how many were staying but she did order a couple extra pizzas for anyone that did stay ... if they wanted to eat.

At first I thought of course you should pay for the parents...but then as I think about it, I am not so sure. The age of the children is young enough that the parents most likely will stay, but dont really have to. I think that in this situation I would plan to pay for everything, but accept money if the parents offer to pay for themselves, or even order their own food separate. I know if I was the parent of a child attending this party I would not feel comfortable eating without chipping in for my portion.

Yes, you should feed the parents. Just order a couple of extra pizzas. The kids would not be able to be there without the parents, so it would be the right thing to do. Good Luck, and have fun!!

I would pay for the parents to eat however, I have been to party's at Chucky Cheese where they didn't and I thought it was very tacky of them. it can get a little expensive but thats the least you can do being as though they are giving a gift along with their childs presence. I would do it :)

Yeah, it's your child's birthday party and you initiated the invitation. It would be terribly rude to make them pay. They're also probably going to be bringing a present. So....give them some free pizza!

I just had a similar party for my son a few months ago. Yes, I bought a couple extra large pizzas and two pitchers of soda for the adults. I thought it was a polite thing to do for them.
