job problems. I don't know what to do.....?
Things have been bad where I work and are not improving. We're shortstaffed and everyone's unhappy but I actually like my job and my male boss. I applied for a job elsewhere one night when I was low and was interviewed recently. It is a little different from my current role and I didn't really think I would get it. But I have. Thing is, it's working for a woman and frankly I have always worked for men. I find working for women difficult. The woman has left me a message and I've also spoken on the phone since, but already I find her voice alone irritating. I don't really want to stay where I am so unhappy, but I am cautious about jumping into a new job where I am not sure I am going to get along with the manager. I need to make a decision today.

I think you have answered your own question. You don't really like working for a female boss, and who can blame you. I find that they can't make a decision, dither, get it wrong and then blame others.
Being offered the job you thought you wouldn't get is flattering, but it is not the only job you can get. Use the fact you were offered the job to boost your confidence and stay where you are whilst you look for something better. Aim high, you have nothing to lose.
Don't take a job simply because you were offered it. Think that on a wet, cold Monday morning, you will have to drag yourself out of bed at some ungodly hour to work with a person you don't like.
There is nothing you can do about the cold wet mornings, but you can at least look forward to the 8 hours ahead in a job you enjoy.

If the boss has worked their way to that position through hard graft and the job in question is gender equal then the boss rules the roost you must respect that, doesn't matter if the boss is male or female. All managers are tossers, 2 faced favoritism seeking turds thats a fact, There is no such thing as a good boss. Heres a quick story for ya, I'm a highly skilled worker i can brick lay do joinery use any power tool including lathes i can weld and fabricate i now take orders from a woman as a "lab technician" i hate the job and i detest her guts she's an obnoxious person but i'm a good worker and she respects that, i also have to respect her as the boss and i do whatever she asks. Back in my original field of work she wouldn't last 2 seconds, no woman would but its her patch and she worked her way up through grafting and i respect that. So you have to look beyond personality, whatever the boss says goes and at the end of the day its her head on the chopping block not mine! I've nothing to lose with power comes ultimate responsibility. Take the job, respect the boss and take your wages. The boss isn't your mate or your lover, every boss I've worked for I've hated but no matter what they know a good worker when they see one because it makes their job easier and it makes them look good by having a good team.

I've found this problem too. I much prefer working with men as generally (I'll say that again for the feminists that maybe didn't catch it) GENERALLY, they are far more straight forward.
However the bottom line is that you're unhappy in your current job and if you don't take this job then chances are, when it gets unbearable, you'll just take another job anyway.
I'd take it - but it's a big decision only you can make. Good luck.

What do you dislike most?
1. Current job.
2. Woman boss at new job.
Pick the lesser of the two evils.
Or-are you a risk taker?
Yes-go to new job.
No-stay at current job and hope things get better.
Or-try to look past the genders and look at everything else about both jobs. Now which one is better?
Only you can decide this for yourself. If you stay where you are at, at least you know what you are up against. If you do go to the new job you might be happier in the long run. Or, if the new job sucks just chalk it up to another life experience that you can tell your grandkids about some day.
Good luck. Please "add details" to your question and let all of us know what you ended up doing and WHY.

If i was you i would take this new job
see it as a new challenge - something different or new for your CV
if after a while you dont like it or cant stand her, see if you can change to a different position in the company or look for another job, but this time you will have more time to looking into the job you are searching and be more picky

Just go for it! The worst that can happen is that you have to find another job! You should be happy you've got a job.
