Sorrow Free: I am very surprised that anyone would call you antisemetic for accepting Jesus. I nor anyone I know at the Temple would call you that. Everyone I know at the Temple, however, would agree that you have abandoned your religion by accepting an additional god that is foreign to Judaism. That makes you no longer a Jew. Because you accept Jesus and feel you are still a Jew, you must view Jews as constituting a race rather than a religion. Such a viewpoint is insulting to Jews, especially those who have converted to Judaism from some other religion.

Science is my religion: How relevant is Vishnu to Christianity? Answer: not at all. It is the same for Jesus and Judaism.

Sorrow Free--no one at all is asking you to deny your origins! Be proud that you had Jewish ancestors. You say you don't believe in the existance of races so, now that you have accepted the god of a non-Jewish religion, and if you don't believe Jews constitute a race, how can you say you are still Jewish? That just is not logical.

Don't sweat the small stuff, Marcus. I've had question and answers deleted for their TOS. In addition, they deleted my question and never gave me a reason; the line next to it was empty!
Hang in there and keep it up.

That information is a bit disconcerting. Perhaps, the fact that you started the question, Jews Only!!!! Red flagged your text, thus causing it to be rejected without a closer scrutiny. I prefer to think this is the case rather than that your text was censored. This is an open forum, which allows for great debate on just about any topic, regardless of it's origin, providing you maintain some semblance of order, and refrain from open blatant obscenities. I do not however, feel that this answer addresses the true message you are driving at.
Why would you direct your question as to the meaning of the name of Jesus in Hebrew, to Jews only, unless you were trying to say something directly to the Jews. This does not formulate a question, but rather a platform, from which to launch a barrage (If you get my meaning). Many people know the Hebrew term for Jesus, not just the Jewish people. The Hebrew name is Yesuah, which means "God with Us".
Now, to address your real question. Judaism is a religion, which is practiced by many Jewish people. All Jews, however, are not Judaic.
Many Jewish people are of many religions, and many more, are of no religion at all. Jesus/Yesuah, himself was of Jewish decent, in that he was born of a Jewish mother, and raised by a Jewish father. Jesus himself, being the incarnation God, transcended all faiths and religions of that time, and continues to do so today. If you are Jewish at birth, you will be Jewish for as long as you are on this earth. Just because a bunch of Religious Leaders claim that you have been Excommunicated from your heritage does not make it so.
I hope this helps you in your quest for truth and understanding.

I've just got three violations for similarly silly things.
To 'SORROW' - to clarify: that you were born Jewish is irrelevant. I was born Jewish - if I now become a Hindu, that Hinduism suddenly become 'jewish' just because I was born a Jew?
Well?
~Answer: NO.
You were born a Jew: you are NOW a practising CHRISTIAN. You don't get to redefine Judaism to INCLUDE Christianity, just because YOU want to have your religious cake and eat it.
If being Jewish was that important to you, why are you now a Christian?
Can a person remain a Christian and worship someone other than Jesus as messiah???
No?
Same with Judaism - you can't stay Jewish and worship a human. It violates Torah.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
To SORROW and CARL GEE
Secular Jews are not committing idolatry - thus they remain part of Judaism.
When you worship Jesus and accept the 'trinity' you *are* committing idolatry, by Jewish standards. And as it's *Judaism* you claim you still represent, clearly you are being dishonest.
You do not get to unilaterally declare that worshipping Christ is somehow 'jewish'. It is not. It never was. It never will be.
Torah states: G-d is NOT A MAN.
Really, how much clearer can it be???

Looks like a straight up and deserved VN. You did not answer the question, but instead invalidated it. According to the story, Jesus was Jewish, and therefore had a Hebrew name.
Why can't you take the lumps? Feel proud your comment bothered someone enough, and MOVE ON.
Source(s): --has gotten innumerable VNs for the same thing - How do you think about the answers? You can sign in to vote the answer.

Well you didn't answer the question. I get VNs every single day. Don't sweat it; this is just an Internet forum.

=)
Well, I never deleted you. I just find it mildly insulting for people to say that I am no longer a Jew because I accepted Jesus.
I was born a Jew.
Many secular Jews are considered to be Jewish although they don't practice Judaism.
I am also called anti-Semitic for accepting Jesus. Jesus wasn't anti-Jew. He was anti-pretender.
((Feel free to delete this answer. I'll forgive you. =D ))
EDIT: I don't believe in the existence of races. I just see a double standard(the 'secular Jews' viewed by practicing Jews), is all. I think it's rather unfair to require me to deny my origin. I am called 'insulting' because I won't deny a part of me...know how that sounds?
I am sorry you feel that way.

Welcome to the club. That happens to everybody here no matter what religion they profess.
To Him who sits on the throne and to the Lamb be praise and honor and glory for ever and ever. Jesus is Lord.
