Yahoo Answers is shutting down on May 4th, 2021 (Eastern Time) and beginning April 20th, 2021 (Eastern Time) the Yahoo Answers website will be in read-only mode. Why do all these people leave a link?

Why do people come on this site and answer with a link THAT WILL REALLY HELP if you watch this small video? I clicked on one of these bl**dy answers two weeks ago and let a trojan onto my laptop. Can Y.A. not ban this sort of thing or at least police it properly?

I've been reporting them. If everyone else would do the same maybe they would find someplace else to play.

If you go to the link when you get there it asks you to download a codec on your PC, this codec puts a rogue program on your PC.

This codec & rogue can be removed for free using free malwarebytes & free superantispyware.

Other rogue programs like spyhunter cash in on this, If you buy the rogue that is put on your PC, it still will not remove the rogue & the con men now have your money & bank details.

Why do they do it ? for money.

Does this sites put a trojan on you PC ? No.

I shut down many people who do this by reporting them, in the same way I shut down & report people who say download spyhunter.

I agree with you that yahoo needs to do more to police Y.A better.

If you download free McAfee siteadvisor it helps to let you know which sites are safe.

i rarely click the links unless they look like they are from a recognisable source. i saw the one you referred to several times all in different sections, so i avoided it, i guessed it would be a trojan or virus.

i also never click links that are in answers, i may if they are in questions, but if its in an answer and im answering i guess i know the answer all ready, if its a question im interested in knowing the answer to then again i wont click the links as there are usually enough answers that are similar to give you an over all picture.

    It happened to me too!

Fortunately, I had a copy of a disk-cloning program on my spare hard drive (Paragon Hard Drive Manager - free with Computer Shopper), and I had done my weekly back-up to the spare drive, so all I had to do was format the main drive, and reclone it from the spare.

You could always do this with a USB drive attached to your laptop.
