Is there a lead to connect an old HD to my new HD? The sockets are different sizes. I`m in the UK. Thanks.?

I have a new PC brought 3 months ago and an old PC from 99 which is broke. The sockets on both HD are different. the new PC`s HD socket is smaller is there away to connect the two?

    the older one is probably IDE and the newer SATA - you can either install an IDE card, but maybe the easier options is to purchase an external IDE caddy, they are very cheap and just pop the hard drive in and plug into a USB port - this also gives you a nice way to backup data too

    I think all hard drives from 1999 are going to be ATA. Almost all modern motherboards still have ATA connectors so you should be able to just plug it in the same way is was plugged into the old computer.

    You won't be able to connect the two, but you should be able to access both of them at the same time. (just like if you were to plug an external hard drive, flash drive, ipod etc into your computer).

    there is a cable system available that adapts almost any hard drive via a connector through a usb lead which will allow you to grab all the data on your old hard drive and copy it to your new hard drive.

    It is called a "USB 2.0 to sata/IDE cable", they come with a power supply and all the normally needed cable to fit your application
