Let me try again....?
and I mean this without any offense to anyone. I am just interested to hear your thoughts.
If evidence that God exists was given to man kind, would that not destroy religion. For if you had evidence than you no longer have faith and isn't faith what religion is based on?
As a girl who grew up in a Catholic house hold I was kinda of the impression that God wants you to believe in him without proof. It seems like knowing he exists would send you to hell.

Wow. That is a good question. What I think is that God shouldn't need to have someone prove that he is real. It's kinda like putting a price on something that is priceless. You cheapen it. God has done so much for us, what he asks in return is that we believe in him. Now if God did suddenly appear in the middle of New York Square and declare that he was God do you think that anyone would believe him? Probably not. And if He did show up anyone who sees him would instantly die. And God doesn't ask us to base our beliefs on faith. He has given us much proof. Just look at history and the world today. Do you think that if He did not exist the wold would even be able to stay together for even a day? On the same note if God does not exist where did he go? How would the earth have been created if he did not make it? And don't give me any of the Evolution nonsense. That stuff is ridiculous.

I guess it depends on what you consider "proof". God is evident in the lives of those that choose to look for Him. He answers prayers and the Holy Spirit witnesses of truth to those that seek it. It is on an individual basis though, and must be sought after. Also, religious organizations are to teach us and help us when we feel over-burdened. There are some aspects of my religion that I KNOW are true due to my experiences, and others that I have FAITH in, while learning and building that faith until it too becomes knowledge. Also, as with almost any experience, time can fade it and make it seem less real so if we fall away from God we start to doubt the "witnesses" or "proof" that we have been given and can loose that knowledge.
So, religious organization is so that we can gather together, learn from each other and and succor the weak.

Religions would seize any evidence they could find to support their view. They only adhere to faith because it is a necessity in the absence of evidence.
Consider all of the claims of relics, miracles, healing, prayer intervention. Every religion has its own stories that involve the interaction of the supernatural with nature. Remnants of a cross. The bone of a saint. Blood from an old tomb. They want the physical evidence to conform to their faith. If they had any facts to back it up they would love it.
If a religion had clear evidence for its positions then I suspect it would only grow in numbers.

well first of all you have to understand that religion is not based on faith !!
the only religion for se that is based on faith is Christianity. other religions such as islam, hinduism ect.. are not faith based.
another thing is the meaning of the actual word "faith"
according to the bible, faith is believing in something that you do not see.
thus in this case it diminishes the physical evidence based of the existence of God given to humans. Which in a sense we have Evidence that there is a creator, just by looking at the creations or the nature. so my answer is simply, it depends on what kind of evidence you are alluding to. example is that of Thomas in the gospel after the resurrection of Christ. this evidence is unseen until believed when he saw the actual palm of Jesus.

Peace and blessings be upon you.
The God is who make people believe or not, with or without proofs, sometimes we have no proof but we know the truth from our inside ,and other times we have proofs but we don't believe it.
Even if the God sent a book and they saw it by their eyes coming from the sky for them in the earth by the name of the God ,they will say Magic and will not believe ,that's if the God don't want them believe.
They keep asking for a proof to tell them that the God is present ,but even if they got it ,they will not believe.
But the God created souls see him in everything around them , know well that nothing exist but only He.

Only absolute proof requires no faith. Evidence can be interpreted or misinterpreted according to the intentions of those viewing the evidence. There is a difference between evidence and absolute proof.

I don't see how evidence would destroy anything. When we meet God face to face, we will still have our beliefs, our worship, our relationship, etc.
Faith is important, of course. It's what we have in this life.
And many people believe they have evidence of some sort, not what you are speaking of I know, but the things that have been spiritually powerful to people reinforce their faith rather than do the opposite.

There's people who have evidence that He exists and know that He exists. There had to have been some faith there in order to have a manifestation. We are all given a measure of faith. Religion is man made. God doesn't want us being "religious."

I think that you need to have faith to believe the evidence. When Christ comes again and reigns as King over all the earth there will still be those who do not choose to believe in him. I mean, they will acknowledge that he is King, but they will not have to believe that he is their Savior.
Does that make sense? Just because there's evidence doesn't mean that you don't need faith. You need faith to believe the evidence. That's why the scientific method doesn't work for religion...people just don't understand that.

faith to those who believe, is evidence. What I mean by that is, when I stepped out in faith and believed that Christ died of my sin, there is no doubt in my mind that God exists. That does not mean to say I know everything there is to know about Him. That would reduce God to a motivational speaker, instead of God. When Jesus came to earth, died and rose again, people had proof- not all chose to believe - look at Doubting Thomas as he has become to be known as. When Jesus appeared to him after His resurrection Thomas had to touch the wounds in his hand and side to truly believe. What did Jesus say "it is better to not see and believe:- so even seeing God standing in front of you , you may choose not to believe.
