Induction before due date...........?

First of all, Im only 32 weeks and 1 day today, which makes me due January 11. I went to the doctor this morning cause yesterday and this morning I was having severe pain, like baby had dropped. He hadnt, just turned and is head down. Anyway she checked me and said I was dilated to 1 cm, but cervix hadnt begun to thin. Baby was still way up in there. She measured my belly, said I was measuring at 35 weeks and that she may induce me January 5. I dont understand why she would want to do that before Im actually due. Also she made my next appointment for 4 weeks from today. The last 2-3 times Ive went its been every 2 weeks. Any ideas on whats going on? This is my 2nd, my 1st was 9 years ago.

Update:

I guess that makes me 3 weeks further than we originally thought.

First of all, EDD stands for ESTIMATED due date. I'm sure you know. Doctors are never 100% sure of when the baby will be due. Only 5% of pregnancies are actually on their due dates.

This same thing happened to me w/ my second. They say they are sure when they do those ultrasounds but they aren't. My due date was changed twice in the last month or two of pregnancy and I can honestly say even though I was induced 8 days early from the original edd, I still to this day feel she was actually later than should have been. She was almost 10 pounds!!! She had super long nails and looked more like a one month old. And no it was not a c-section:) too much info I know, but my point is don't worry yourself. the measuring is more dead on than the ultrasound. My sister was measuring bigger and I predicted her due date would be over two weeks early from her date just bcuz of it and I was right and her baby was 8 lbs and perfectly healthy.

You are actually considered having a full term baby at 36/37 weeks, so you being induced only a few days before your due date would not be a big deal. The actual due date they give you is only an average of your two due dates, the beginning of the 9th month, and the end of the 9th month. You are supposed to give birth anytime in this month, but most women tend to give birth right in the middle so they just apply this to everyone. My due date is January 7-9th (different doctors), but according to an ultrasound I had I can have the baby around Dec. 28th as well. He's probably just concerned about the health of the baby, inducing you a few days early is nothing to worry about, it will still be natural, he's just trying to get the process started, he may be worried your body won't do it on it's own. Good luck.

You are actually full term at 37 weeks but they like you to get to 38 weeks before they induce. Jan. 5 is really only a week before you are due anyway. I don't know why she wants you to go in another month, I'd maybe call about that.

38+ weeks is considered "term", so it would be OK to induce then, but not really necessary

i believe the appt. to return in 4 weeks instead of 2 was just an honest mistake, i would call the office and make sure

It is truthfully the fine factor to do. If I have been you I might additionally request a placenta estriol investigate; practically a experiment to make certain the placenta remains to be operating efficaciously. A huge % of untimely infants are born considering of inductions that are played beneath the idea that the little one is 'late' whilst it quite is not. I in my opinion might refuse to urge till the checks exhibit that placental potency is diminishing. That's simply me despite the fact that.
