What is an easy cracker spread?

I was wondering what an easy way to make my own cracker spread. I am currently using a parmesan and garlic spread (spreadable cheese with cream cheese) but cringe when thinking about the $4.00 price tag it came with - couldnt' resist it was a treat to myself. Can I make this at home cheaper? How would you mix it?

I like most flavors - parmesan, garlic, butter, etc

This herb and cheese spread is great on crackers, sandwiches when bored with mayo and mustard, or tucked into beef Wellington! It's so much cheaper to make it than buy it.

    Garlic and Herb Cream Cheese

    Ingredients:

    1 stick butter, softened

1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese, softened

    2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese

    2 cloves garlic, minced

    1 1/2 teaspoons dried oregano

    1 teaspoon dried parsley

    1/4 teaspoon dried thyme

    1/4 teaspoon dried dill weed

    1/4 teaspoon dried basil

    1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

    Directions:

Mix together the butter, cream cheese, Parmesan cheese, garlic, oregano, parsley, thyme, dill, basil, and pepper in a bowl until evenly combined. Chill in refrigerator overnight or 8 hours. This can be frozen for long-term storage.

I make this and it is awesome!'

A package of cream cheese (softened)

then I use green onions and cut them pretty small.

Ham (the cheap packaged stuff works- in Michigan I pay like forty nine cents a package)

Mix all this together, then I sprinkle garlic powder in (salt is tooooo salty..lol)

then I throw some parmesan cheese and shredded cheddar cheese (you could use any type of shredded cheese)

Stir until all is mixed well.

Enjoy! It's wonderful, fast to make and never any left.

If you and/or your guests like spicy foods, cream cheese and pepper jelly is very simple and easy to make. Take a block of softened cream cheese and put it on a plate. Spoon some hot pepper jelly (available at most grocery stores) on top. The spicier you like it, the more jelly you add. I know it sounds weird, but it is delicious.

Cheez-Whiz is easy and I stuff Celery with it too. Soften cream cheese with a bit of milk, add garlic, chives, or green stuffed olives. If you have a food processor just heat your block of cream cheese about 20 seconds just to soften it a bit, put it in the processor and blend the flavor of choice.

cream cheese is wonderful.. you can add anything your hearts desire to it to make dips..

and if you are on a budget. buy the grocery brand of cream cheese instead of the expensive phili.... (wont mention brand) name of cheese

    .. lol..

anyways.. add your own to it.. like a dash of parmesan cheese, some garlic powder or dried garlic bits to it..

many ways to make a dip

try any dry soup packet "onion" flavor is best.. and take 8 oz of cream cheese.. use only 1/2 a normal onions soup packet.. (usually I double it, using 2 cups of cheese).. but if you want to make individual.. use 1/2 packet.. and stir well into cheese.. it might be extremely stiff. cause the dehydrated onion soaks up loads of moisture, so you might want to stir in milk, mayo, yogurt, sour cream. anything you have on hand to water it down some..

there are also sweat versions of dip.. (if you've seem the kraft line), \

you can take a bit of crushed pineapple and walnuts and stir into the cream cheese..

    chopped apples and pecans..

also.. I like chopped sliced black olives and a tablespoon of pickle relish.. this makes a unique dip..

my kids like cream cheese mixed with a few talbespoons of Mexican picante sauce... they eat this with doritoes...

just use your imagination and go wild.. you can add anything to cream cheese...
