Devils 20 Goals in 4 Games, Without Brodeur (cont.)?

Anyone else surprised by the Devils offensive turnout this season? The Devils scored 20 goals in the past 4 games, without Brodeur in net, and without Rolston. I would think the Devils would play an even more defensive game while their backups are in net, knowing Marty won't be there to stop the big shots.

Also, the Devils have scored 5 or more goals in 6 of their 20 games! That's pretty impressive for such a defensive minded team!

Update:

Yeah! Shout out to Zubrus! :-D

No, i'm not that surprised. I think that they just needed a little energy boost and reinforcement that they still have a chance without Brodeur.. all of them are on that team for a reason, they are all great "all over" players.. even the defensemen are getting in on the scoring chances.. and ZUBRUS GOT A TEXAS HAT TRICK... i couldn't be happier!!!

I'm shocked by this. I thought last years... I guess in my opinion was an underachievement by my standards (but then again i don't keep up with them that much) because of losing rafalski (there best defender) and had a much worse defense to help Broduer.

So as a unknowing person about the Devils, I'm shocked that they managed 20 goals on the year so far! (Kidding)... 4G/game is good for any team let alone the Devils!

EDIT: Wow my basic math skills are off, it's 5 goals a game duh!! Man how bout Zubrus!

Extremely surprised, but to a certain extent. Without Brodeur out, they probably expected to give up more goals, which is why the offense has started to turn around. Their offensive crops isn't that bad, it's just when Brodeur is around, it's defense first like it's always been. They have a few players that can score 20+ year in and year out, and now they're coming out in full force.

i could verify out it any different way around... A a million-0 shutout gets a plenty extra beneficial look than a 4-0 shutout. In a million-0, the goalie is exceedingly plenty the only distinction in the sport, plus the final a million-2 minutes of the sport is 6 on 5 play if that's a million-0. whilst this is 4-0 you could continuously see the gamers nearing the 4-5 minute mark no longer play as no longer undemanding, using fact they be responsive to the percentages of bobbing up 4 targets in 4 minutes is exceedingly outlandish. Brodeur is a beast. valuable choose he performed for somebody different than the freakin' Devils even with the undeniable fact that lol

Nah I am not too surprised, I knew they had it in them. The Elias-Zubrus-Gionta line is doing amazing now. Don't forget that Elias used to be one of the elite fowards in the NHL (I still think he has it in him). Gionta scored 48 goals a few seasons ago. Then you have Parise, who is doing amazing this year and hopefully will continue with that pace. Zajac just needs to work on his shot, but he has been doing very well on faceoffs and playing with Parise. When Rolston comes back I think Sutter should either stick him with Parise-Zajac and move Langs down with Pandolfo and Madden or stick Rolston there. Then fourth line will be Rupp-Holik-Clarkson. That means 4 lines that can potentially score, which means many more goals coming the devils way =D. Reminds me of the 2000 team if they keep it up, and yes Zubrus was a beast tonight!

Three main thing are responsible for this resurgence in scoring power.

#1. The point men (defense) are getting up into the play and getting shots on net.{see: Detroit Red Wings Success)

#2. Sutter's game plan is sinking in with the team and paying off.

#3. They have faith in whoever is in net,BUT, know they have to play a different game without Marty.

Well they know that they cant rely on Brodeur for those 1 goals wins so they have to score more to win. Clemmensen and Weekes have to be solid and the Offense is doing good so lets hope it continues.

Pretty surprised. But Zubrus won't be able to keep it up haha, fluke.

Devils need to find a better goalie soon anyways, Brodeur won't be there to bail them out in the future and I don't think their offense will continue through the seasons.

I'm EXTREMELY surprised. I didn't expect them to do this well without Marty. I'm also extremely scared. The Penguins are already chasing the Rags I don't need 'em chasing the Devils too. ;)

I'm not as surprised as I am ecstatic. This is a good sign, shows we have potential. It also proves those other fans (like Frozen.) wrong. However I still miss Brodeur.

Source(s): 4 goal game for Zubrus!!
