If I have a 106% in a class, and I receive a 0 on an assignment that's worth 30% of my grade, what is my grade?

Not a math problem...It's a real problem.

Update:

In a twist of irony, this is my math class.

    1.06(.70) + .30(0) = .742 + 0 = 74.2%

    All you need to do is figure out 30% of 106%

    30/100 = x/106

    100x = 3180

    x = 31.8

    So that's 30% of 106...just subtract 31.8 from your total number of points and calculate a new percent by doing:

    x/100 = [new number]/[original number]

    And you'll find out your grade.

    Or, you can calculate what 70% of 106% is, and put that over 100 for your grade.

    My guess is C+ or B- depending on your class. See, when you have 100%, if you take away 30% you have 70%, which is a C. You have 106%, which means you'll end up with a 70 something percent.

    Assuming that the 106% comprises the entire other 70%, then you've got a (106 * 0.70 + 0 * 0.30) = 74.2%. That is indeed a problem.

    If you have a 106% in a class you should be able to figure this out. Ill give it a try though.

    1.06 * .3 = .318

    1.06 - .318 = .742

    Youll get a C

    1.06*.70 + .30*0=.742

    .742*100= 74.2%
