Do you give your child's caregiver a Christmas gift?

Just curious if you give your child's caregiver a Christmas present or not. What do you give them if you do give and are they your private nanny, a home daycare provider or do they work at a daycare?

Thanks!

Update:

I am a daycare provider, and it is lovely when the kids give me a gift. My favorite gift last year was a handmade bracelet, it was lovely and just my color:)

I always get the kids gifts, usually a book and a picture in an ornament for the parents.

Thanks for the responses!

This is our first year in this situation but we will be buying both of my daughter's teachers a $10 gift certificate for the Body Shop. My daughter goes to a daycare - so I figure they will be getting lots of stuff from all 9 kids in the class.

Marvelous Momma - You had 9 grammar, punctuation and spelling errors in your 3-sentence response. I hope you're not homeschooling your little trolls.

Desmeran - HOLY CRAP!! You make me look super cheap! $16 an hour for babysitting?

Yes. My daughter loves her caregivers, and I am sure she will want to give them something :)

When my daughter was being watched in a lady's home, we got her nice presents in the $10 - $20 range. Last year was potpourri, a picture of my daughter, and some other little thing that Chey got with her own money.

Now my daughter goes to daycare. There are about 5 or 6 workers that play an active role in watching Cheyenne and her friends. We will be giving them handmade cards, pictures, and possibly a few pieces of candy or homemade cookies.

Ha I love how people answer the question without even answering it..

Anyways, my son is 8 months old so needless to say this is the first year for me when it comes to this kind of thing.

But I do think it would be sweet to get them something...

I really appreciate them, and LOVE how they care for my son..

Im thinking a gift certificate for each of them because I do not know them on a very personal level to pick out a gift.

    I hope they like =]

And my son goes to a home-daycare.

A spanish speaking Home-daycare, the caretakers do not speak english, but the kids do, and the teen girls in the familly who are always around :)

Gift cards really are a great idea, but be careful of expiration dates and restrictions. Otherwise a daycare, maybe a fruit, meat, or nut basket. Chocolates from Buddy Squirrel..

Most definitely. Our babysitter is like family. We only use her occasionally, not even once a month, but we always get her a gift certificate to someplace we know she likes for Christmas, equal to about the cost of 2 nights' babysitting (we pay $16/hr for babysitting so that's not as cheap as it sounds. ;-) )

eta -- lol. I've got four kids and live in a very well-off town. Our friends have actually told us we're underpaying for where we live, and that most people with four kids pay closer to $20. Did I mention we don't go out much?

I was thinking of giving her a $25 giftcard to Target. She is a home daycare provider and we can't thank her enough for what she does!

We have a grandmother who watches my son three days per week. At Christmas, I give her a bonus check. Preschool teachers get gift certificiates and homemade treat (cookies or breads).

you should just give them a visa gift card--you can spend as much as you want on it, and they can use it anywhere that accepts visa credit cards. (:
