Ivermectin is your best course of treatment. It is used on cows. Mange(sarcoptic) is hard to treat. Wombats and foxes carry it.

YOU can be infected by it.

If you have carriers in your area you may never be rid of it, well your dog until you stop them coming into contact.

So it doesn't mean your treatments are not working, it may just mean your dog is continually being re-infected.

Stick with your vets treatment. Try to get it cleared up asap.

Other animals in your household can also be infected.

Did you know the stuff you use to treat your pets that you purchase from vets is a derivitive of Ivermectin. Frontline, Advantage etc.

You can purchase the stuff from your vet and apply it yourself.

A dip on the other hand requires you to soak the whole of the dogs fur, it must not get into it's eyes, ears or mouth.

Continually treat your dog with Advantage or Frontline and you might see a big difference with your problem. Don't stop in the winter just because you think there are no active fleas. Sarcoptic Mange doesn't care about the weather.

You don't need a chemical dip if it is sarcoptic mange, use revolution for his weight one application every two weeks for three treatments. If it is demodex mange, then you need to dip him in a lime sulfur dip you can only get from a vet.

I googled 'ingredients in mange chemical drip'

    http://search.yahoo.com/search;_ylt=A0geu8ElzjBJ3o...

I think it depends on the TYPE of drip you'd be using.
