How do I report a malware posting?

I've seen these Answers which try to trick you into clinking on these malware links:

This small video will really help you. I found it here **tp://huzaifi.notlong.com

as the links you mention are malware links, they need to be reported ASAP

    and quickly

    hit the report abuse button

check the first circle in the report page

type in "malware" in the additional details box

    and hit report it

this has been going on since almost 6 weeks now already with those malware links (malware = dangerous virus)

so far there have been about 40 different links we have come across

if you want to help to get rid of it and help the community please check out the following 2 threads at the suggestion board

    "official malware battle thread"

    http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&...

"How to report malware and discussion thread"

    http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&...

if you have become victim's of those links at any time, here is a helpful guide as well

"if you clicked a malware link and need help"

    http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&...

whoever reads this and sees this please help if you have the time

    it's for everybody's good

just make sure you never check the second circle which in any other case it would be, but the yahoo team asked as to use the first circle as they can intercept, remove content and suspend those profiles

if you use second circle, they go to customer care, which only removes the content reported and the profile, but not the remaining content

let's help each other and keep the community save

    EDIT*

    IMPORTANT!!!!

    DO_NOT report as illegal

that's one of the main reasons we always find leftover answers with those links in them

please help us not make our volunteer work harder then it is

    thanks

Report them all the time. Click the TOP button, type MALWARE ALERT in the text box to let the staff know about it. Also, check out the FORUM (link is 3/4 down the YA page on the left side) where they often post alerts about this, ways to report it better, things like that.

A way of dealing with those links has been put in place.

First, block the user - this makes it easier if you see them again to know you found them. And usually there will be around 20 posts per user found. Then report like this:

XXX DO NOT REPORT USING SECOND OPTION !!! XXX

    Reporting Malware

    1. Click on report button.

    2. Click on TOP option/circle as reason for reporting.

    3. Write MALWARE in details section

    4. Report it, and your done!!

    THANKS FOR ALL THE HELP!!!

XXX DO NOT REPORT USING SECOND OPTION !!! XXX

And don't report more than 5 per profile - it's a waste of time because then the "is this person stalking" flag comes into effect and no more of your reports will work on that profile.

    http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&...

    EDIT:

I should correct saying more than 5 reports won't work - on your 6th report the flag comes into effect and your reports go to review. This takes more time than getting someone else onto it which we can help each other with by putting it on the suggestions page linked above. So yes, Bruckcie, although you can get rid of them eventually by yourself, a combined effort gets there faster. Sorry to confuse.

And as far as I know, this is the only time when we're allowed to put people's profile links on public display and that's because of the "malware" (virus, etc) links, no other reason.

    FURTHER EDIT:

Please DON'T use the illegal button to report. If you do, the person's account gets deleted but NOT all their answers. Thanks!!

Well, most of the answers above have given you excellent advice on how to report them.

MalwareFighter, I must disagree with you. It is TRUE that phishing malware should normally be reported as Illegal, with the second button on the report page. HOWEVER that means Customer Care kills the profile but leaves all the answers on the site. This creates big headaches for the searching teams, as each answer has to be found one by one.

We have special arrangements with the Yahoo Answers Team that they intercept all TOP BUTTON reports with "malware" written in as reason. These they delete all the answers before suspending the profile. You can check about this on the Suggestions Board links given above, which contain numerous comments from Y!AT about this.

You did what? RTFM!.... I can only repeat your name, YOU DID WHAT? giving it thumbs down only removes it from YOUR VIEW and does nothing to protect other users. For only a fraction more effort you can copy their profile URL and toss it onto the Battle Thread on the Suggs Board. Someone else will deal with the reporting of the answers.

    that's the one.

I like Eve's answer, and subsequent links. I have only been at this a short time, but have become a troll hunter in the process. I not only report the answer that I come across, but I also go to the trolls' profile and report EVERY answer that it submitted for every question there.

After several reports in a short period, the profile is suspended. Unfortunately, all the ***hole has to do is create another profile.

I would love to know how trolls derive pleasure from this quite illegal, childish crap.

    EDITED:

I honestly didn't know about the limit of five reports per. Thax guys and gals, that'll save me some time. It's TROLL SEASON -- HAPPY HUNTING !

If you see it, go here http://suggestions.yahoo.com/detail/?prop=answers&... and put down the user name and put a link to their profile page. There are yahoo employees who regularly view the thread who will delete their answers and suspend the account.

If you wish, you can also report five of their answers. Choose the top option of 'I think this question violates the community guidelines' and type in malware in the additional info. If you report any more than five, it will not have an effect.

When you come across any click the Report Abuse button,

Click on TOP option/circle as reason for reporting,

write MALWARE in details section and then click Report, it will be removed asap.

There are many good guys here that are constantly watching for them, and any help would be appreciated, links are above for those who can help.

    EDIT:

Do NOT click on Illegal button when reporting, click on first option 'I think this question violates the community guidelines.'

This is important so that it gets dealt with quickly.

    OMG!

    I F***** HATE THOSE THINGS!

    GRRR!

click that "report" icon below someone's post,(the icon with the flag on it) and then type in the box...

    MALWARE/VIRUS...

it usually doesnt do much until two/three people report the same person which sucks...but it's worth a try!

    i'm so on ur side.
