I'm a man and need to lose quick weight before a wedding, what's the best method?

I have to go to a wedding in two weeks and have gained about 25 pounds since most of the people at the wedding have seen me. I want to look good for all the pictures and memories so I wanted to know the quickest and most efficient thing I could do to my body (don't answer with something silly like amputation) to shed about 10 pounds. I know it won't be healthy but I'll go back to my regular diet once the wedding is done. Could you please list a method such as run for X hours a day, eat just (specifics) __ __ and ___ all day. Or should I just starve myself for 2 weeks? I've never done something like this so I need major help!!!

There are many sensible things you can do that will make a tremendous difference over the long term if you need to lose weight. It can be done in a healthy way. This is what has worked for me.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can't get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don't. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Don't starve yourself, it'll make it worse.

Whether or not this is true, I find that men lose weight quicker and easier than women.

If you drink soda, STOP. That'll make a huge difference.

Exercise, ecercise, exercise, as much as you can until the wedding. Prefereably high intensity cardio like running or eliptical machines. Do at least an hour of intense exercise a day. Drink lots of fat free milk, tons of vegetables without butter or salt, and eat lean meats and whole fruits.

No extra sugar, and stay away from fruit juices, just because they have lots of calories. Better to eat the fruit and get the fiber that will fill you up. Eat oatmeal every day!!! It'll fill you up, and it actually grabs cholesterol and takes it out of your body.

Good luck!!! You can do it!!!

Starving yourself forces your body to eat itself. This will cause a drop in weight but also a pot belly which will most certainly not be the look you're going for. eat 6 small meals every day at regular times. Don't just eat meats get some salads, fruits, wheats, all the food groups. Drink lots of water. The reason for the 6 small meals is that it's better for digestion. Your body can take in the nutrients more easily without overstocking or anything. Simply put, your body gets more good stuff without holding onto all the bad stuff.

That alone won't do anything much for you so here's the next part. Work out. You don't need to get a gym membership or anything but if that helps you, go for it. I recommend calisthenics. Do cardio related exercises. They're less focused on building muscle and more focused on stamina. The longer you go, the more crap you burn out of your system. Remember to stay properly hydrated. Try going for a run in the morning before you do anything (remember to shower after) and, if you have free time during the day do light exercises that won't get you sweating so much but will still get your body to send adrenaline into your bloodstream ("Get your heart pumping"). If you're a business man who can't be seen doing anything much like that, then go for a walk. Walks won't do much for you but it is something and can at least help you burn off what you eat between training sessions.

As for exercises, it really depends on the areas you want to work. I recommend doing what my old dojo called pyramids. You would do 10 push-ups then 10 crunches then 10 squats. Right after it you would do each of the three again, but this time do 20. After that you'd do 30. after that 20 and then end with 10. When the lower ranks didn't show those numbers would go much higher just to see what we could do but still. I also can't stress enough running. It's great for getting you to sweat and get your heart racing. As your body turns the fat into muscle, you'll find that your stamina will increase and you'll be able to do this much easier and for much longer. I won't even go into your new wife being very happy about this gift to her.

Also, the human body holds a lot of weight in water so you'll find that as you start sweating and working you'll drop really nicely right off the bat but then you might plateau a bit. Don't be discouraged. That just means that you've gotten rid of the excess water in your body and now you're ready to start actually burning fat.

That's about all the help I can give. Hope everything turns out great! ^^

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

This is completely easy and un costly

If you have equipment at home Take a garbage bag and put your arms through on each side then tape it at the waist. This will cause you to sweat sweat sweat, and when doing this make sure you drink lots of water, and if you dont have a home gym go for a run each day, crunches not sit ups, try some push ups sit on you but and balance on just that while bringing you legs in using your abdominals, also running up and down stairs anything!

    Goodluck and eat healthy

Ok. There are two things you need to do in order for the body to promote weight loss.

    1. Increased cardio.

    2. Restrict overall calorie intake.

You have two weeks right. Doesn't really leave us a lot of time. But we can try. Your going to have to increase or incorporate some form of exercise. This will need to be done daily at approx 45 minutes a session.

Now, diet. To simplify things - your basically going to have to restrict your over calorie intake. Foods such as rice, breads or anything starchy will have to re frame from entering your mouth for the next two weeks. Concentrate on eating low gi foods such as vegetables or salad. Vegetables are great - they contain virtually no calories but offer a very high fibre content (keep you fuller for longer).

As far as your protein is concerned - keep it clean, chicken, fish, lean meats are all valid types of clean protein.

As ironic as this sounds, you'll need to eat these foods quite frequently (every 2 - 3 hours). Purely because this will keep your metabolism ticking over at a reasonably fast rate.

So, all in all. Ensure that your calorie intake is low throughout every meal and that some form of cardio is incorperated or increased to a good 45 minutes each day.

    Good luck!

Definitely exercise a lot for the next two weeks, do a lot of sit-ups and a lot of cardio. Drink lots and lots of water like never before, and drink green tea. Also cut what your eating in half, and eat salads for dinner, with little or no dressing. It's gonna be hard, but if there is someone you want to impress, it is possible to lose 10 or 15 pounds 2 weeks.
