What was this Barack Obama supporter thinking?

We interviewed a guy yesterday that came in wearing a T-shirt. Who comes to an interview wearing a T-shirt? Not only was it a T-shirt it was an Obama/Biden political T-shirt. We have 20 questions we ask everyone applying for a sys admin position and he missed all 20. It was clear his resume was over-exaggerated.

What was his angle? Did he think if we didn't offer him the job he was going to say it was because of his political views? Have you ever worn a T-shirt to an interview and expected to get that job?

Update:

I'm no snazzy dresser either. We wear blue jeans to work (it's casual Friday all week for us)..but we also wear shirts that have collars.

Update 2:

No it was a white guy in his late 30's or early 40's.

Someone wearing any T-shirt to an interview for a professional job is not thinking. Someone who wears a divisive T-shirt to any job interview is trying to cause trouble. At my work, we are not allowed to wear political or other emblems of any kind, because customers maybe offended and not use/buy from our company. It's been said many times to not get into political or religious discussions in a crowd. There is a reason for that. It causes problems in places that don't need problems and a work environment is definitely a place you don't want problems.

I think you were extremely nice to actually go through the interview with him. If it had been me, I would have asked him to leave immediately.

As a woman who has spent the last 4 months looking for a job and interviewed for 6 positions-

I have to ask (rhetorically) what was he thinking?

Thankfully, the last position I interviewed for hired me and I start on Monday- but no T-shirts for me.

    I wouldn't dream of wearing a t-shirt for a job interview.

He was most likely thinking that he would get the job just because he is an Obama supporter, he probably thinks everyone loves Obama and he must have believed that being an Obama lover was the only requirement for the job. Afterall Obama got the job and he was/is over-exaggerated as well.

I don't really know what that guy was thinking. However, I have worn T-shirts to job interviews before, but the positions I was applying for were burger flipping and pizza delivery.

Caliber of Clothing <> Caliber of Programming.

I know guys who bathe weekly if you're lucky that would program circles around anyone in a tux.

I have worn T-Shirts to interviews, but those are only to interviews at businesses that know the better they treat their people the better the results they get.

Clearly he is ignorant and lied on his resume. There is no angle with this kind of people. They are what they are. The T-shirt was just a coincidence or he was just lazy. Even for a job at McDonald, that is not appropriated. It's a big big mistake to take on that kind of people as they will bring havoc to your company. Good luck

obviously the guy doesn't know how to interview. No, never worn a t-shirt to an interview. IT admins typically aren't the snazziest dressers but common sense should tell you to be presentable for an interview.

I don't think he had any angle i just think he was not prepared.

I don't even think it's appropriate to wear a t-shirt to an interview with McDonalds!

No, have never come to an interview with a t-shirt on. I guess he is just really proud of who he voted for and thats ok, just not on a job interview. Poor puss, just goes to show you, you don't have to be smart to be able to vote.
