hair knots and matting HELP!?

ok so I woke up this morning and had a big knot in the back of my hair (where my heads lays on the pillow) so I didnt have the hours it took to remove the tangles cuz I was so late for work. I left the knot alone and just wore hijab (scarf) to cover my hair (as always) and when I returned the biggggg knot was bigggger:( like the entire back of my hair is only knots- like a pillow on back of my head lol Im soooo upset... i have long beautiful hair and I have been growing it long for like 10 years! I will be soooo angry if I need to cut my hair hort to remove these tangles!! I tried... aussi conditioner, treseme conditioner, mane and tail detangler and like half a friggin bottle of olive oil... i did finally manage to remove SOME of the knots but it took nearly 3 hours nonstop... ANY advice how i can remove the big knots easily and painlessly??? PLEASE HELP...FORGT WHALES-SAVE MY HAIR!lol

thanks:)

Update:

yeah...ok... so I need to know like right now is there anything I can do to remove these knots easily lol I already know I should sleep with a braid to prevent tangles and a satin pillowcase and all that... prevention is not the issue- i need a quick and easy solution please:(

omg...... I'm also having this kind of problem!!! alright, I don't know what started yours, but mine started when I stopped conditioning my hair for a month. dry hair tends to frizz out and gets into tangles and knots, and cotton pillowcases mat it down even more.

there are many types of conditioner for hair. a normal creme conditioner after shampooing is a mild detangler that would protect the hair cuticles from frizzing out. we want to detangle, alright, but chances are, this won't work unless we quench the hair from the inside out--which calls for deep conditioning treatments. we start deep conditioning treatments by opening up the hair cuticles using hot/warm water, condition it, then seal the moisture in by finishing using cold water to close the cuticles up again.

    possible (deep) conditioner:

    - warm mayo + eggs (choose mayo with high fat)

    - beer

    - acidic stuff (try lemon juice / vinegar)

    - oils (olive's a favorite)

    - avocado (once again, fat's good for the hair)

another thing, supposedly hair relaxants help take the hydrogen bonds out of curls, but this method of redefining each hair shaft also has the potential of damaging the overall structure.

if your hair's virgin, you can also try the Japanese straightening system.

remember to drink plenty of water (but no need to go overboard) and snack on seeds and nuts (for the oil+protein).

if nothing works and you really have to cut some length of your hair, please consider donating it to people with cancer treatment and/or alopecia; some salons would cut and style your hair for free for this.

I apologize should there be anything deemed unsavory in my answer, and wish you the best of luck! :)

L'oreal Vive Pro Nutri Gloss conditioner mixed with some grapeseed oil. Smooth it in and gently massage it (just enough to get inside the tangles - not enough to tangle it worse!), then dampen your hair and start combing in very small sections from the tips up to the roots. ONLY if you absolutely need to, use something with dimethicone or *shudder* cyclopentisiloxane, but if you use any silicones, make sure you clarify your hair afterwards.

A silicone based shine enhancer can help remove the tangles. you may want to invest in a satin pillow case to avoid future messes.
