What is the best way to lose weight?

I am 19, 5'1", 180lbs, 6mo. postpartum, and want to hopefully lose 50-60lbs. I do not have access to a gym or gym equipment, however i do have access to a flight of stairs if that is useful. What diet would be the best to lose the most weight fast and stay off?

    The healthy way is the best way !

    Here are a few tips;

    WHEN to eat for losing weight...

    • Eat (at least) three times a day.

    Because when you eat only once a day, your metabolism gets slower than it already is! That's the main reason. Sounds funny, but to lose weight... you must eat (the right things, of course)

    • Eat low-fat, high-fiber foods such as salads and vegetable pastas.

    • Your last meal should be before 18:00. Try.

    OK, one apple after 18:00

    • Don't starve

    Starvation is not good for losing weight, nor your health.

    Starvation is the worse thing you can do in a weight loss diet.

    • Try oatmeal instead of cornflakes for breakfast--eating oatmeal can help reduce cholesterol levels, and its high fiber content will keep you full longer.

    WHAT to drink for losing weight...

    • Drink 6-8 glasses of water every day !

    Can be tap, plain, mineral, sparkling. I just love mineral sparkling water!

    This improves your bowel, reduces the "hunger" sensation, and hydrates your skin. Your skin will look much better after the first weeks!

    Don't believe the slogan "water makes me fat". Beside being stupid... you might get into serious troubles with your kidneys.

    • Drink ONLY natural juices, freshly squeezed!

    Don't drink Coca Cola, Pepsi, Spite etc. during the diet. Even lite or light versions.

    • Avoid those vending machines by carrying around your own healthful foods and leaving pocket change at home.

    Exercise for losing weight...

    • If you want quicker results - exercise would be good.

    • Don't just sit in front of the TV and eat peanuts...

    I guarantee THIS won't work for your weight loss...

    • Start a regular exercise program and stick with it. Don't be afraid of those sweat suits and Lycra pants!

    • Start swimming. Swimming is an excellent exercise to get involved with, since it increases blood flow and uses muscles we don't regularly use. Start a swimming program and try to do it 3 times a week. You will feel excellent and rejuvenated.

    • Choose an exercise program that you enjoy, and don't shun the unconventional. For instance, did you know that regular vigorous dancing is exercise too?

    • Also Cardiovascular exercises such as running, jogging, or aerobics will help you lose that unwanted belly fat. Weight training can also help you lose body fat because the more muscle mass you have, the more ability your system has to burn body fat.

    Exercise daily for a duration of time. Lifting weights, or short bursts of energy will not encourage your body to utilize fat stores for energy. The idea is to spend a duration of time (45 minutes to an hour or more) doing a moderately demanding activity that gets your heartrate beating at about 60-70% of your maximum HR which for a 19 year old is right around 200 beats per minute. So try to keep yourself in the heartrate zone of 120-140 bpm for 45 minutes to an hour daily. Fat begins to burn when glucose stores are depleted and activity levels are moderately strenuous. Depending on the person, this could be as simple as a long walk to a very light jog. Test your heart rate during activity with a watch and by finding your pulse at the side of your trachea in the groove in your neck. It takes time and dedication, but that alone will create a great change in your body. A safe amount of weight to lose for humans is about 1 pound per week. No miracle diet, or Atkins, or South Beach, or lime weges and water will encourage your body to maintain a healthy state and keep the weight off. No diet changes habits. It's a lifestyle change that helps most people.

    Let's not forget about nutrition either. You can go to www.mypyramid.gov and click on "My Pyramid Plan" on the left side of the website. In this place you can input your height, weight, activity level, and age. It will customize a nutrition plan for you which is approved by the federal government and backed by proven results and data. Both of which are not to be taken lightly considering the horrendous effects of fad dieting.

    Good luck with everything, my wife had a baby 3 months ago, she is currently only 3 pounds more than what she was prior to pregnancy. If you work at it, it works for you.

    Heelo StarFox, I tell you this, My girlfriend was 265 lbs. overweight at 5'3" and the doctor was going to give her a prescription to lose weight, when we got to the drug store, we found out it was way to much to afford, so the Nurse, aster we called back, said to go to Walmart,and buy Alli, which was way less than the prescription stuff, and 2 months later, my girlfreind lost 43 lbs, gosh she looks great, but she palns to lose moreas she wants to be at the ideal weight for her height.Read the label of Alli or it could be on the internet to give you more info. CAUTION: It has one side effect, but not your health, mind you, you will not detect itas If you somehow cheat on your diet, as if it were some oily food you ate, it will ooze out behind your *** and leave an oily spot and you will not know it, as it surprise me and my gorlfriend when this happened, But the Pills are well worth, I hope I helped in your losing the weight you want to acheive

    Believe me, the way I lost weight was, I replaced all of the food in my house with lean meats, and fresh fruits and vegetables. And I bought healthy snacks like nuts and trail mix. I replaced my typical beverages with water and that alone made me shed 28 pounds in two months. I was over-weight. And then I started walking everyday in the afternoon.

    Try eating healthy food...try eating home made food..when you go upstairs jog and when you come down.Come down in normal speed..have patience nothing is done in a blink of eyes...have milk daily but only after a bit of work out....have a glass of juice regularly...by the way i want to tell you one thing that i don't look good but still many girls say that i am cute.it's only because...they think i am kind hearted....with good natured...do good to everyone..."god bless you"

    Baby,

    You hit the "nail right smack on the head". You have access to stairs.

    Go up the stairs then back down. Right?

    "Wrong".

    Look at your steps. Do you see the bottom step? That's all you need.

    Put the head set on,put on your favorite music,then start stepping.

    Step up on the first step then, step down.Switch to the other foot then

    step up again. Mix it up a little, be creative.

    Refresh yourself with juice when you're thirsty.

    use the freezer to add some extra oomph to summer foods freeze grapes for some bite sized delights or get a popsicle mold and freeze some greek yogurt with berries
