Why is nudity so terrifying?

Why do some people think that all nudity is obscene, or that even an implication of nudity is disgusting?

I am honestly confused by this.

Update:

I'm not saying people should be able to walk around nude all the time. I'm more saying that whenever people see skin, they assume pornographic intent.

There are people who want Michaelangelo's David to be covered, and people who think any hint of a naked breast is utterly unforgivable and disgusting.

Update 2:

This is mostly because I had a question deleted (that I repealed and got reposted) because it had this picture in it: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v181/blanked/DSC...

Yeah ,there's implied nudity, but nothing is showing, and it's obscenity that's against the rules here, not nudity. Why would someone assume that picture is obscene?

(Also, I'm glad the actual staff understand the difference and reposted the question, that gave me some faith in humanity.)

It's a learned behavior, the idea that being naked is shameful to some degree - haha I just thought of the Simpsons, when Homer is running outside naked and Marge yells "Homer, hide your shame!!"

But I digress. Ever notice how little kids love being naked? It's because they don't understand why it would be a problem They're like the characters of Adam and Eve, and growing up is kinda like eating the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge and realizing "Oh crap, I'm naked!" I don't believe in that or anything, but I'm a semester away from graduating with a BA in Religious Studies, so I have a tendency to relate a lot of everyday situations to Biblical stories, lol.

And even though I understand that it's a learned behavior, it doesn't mean I don't feel that way either - I'm just as freaked out, maybe even moreso, by the idea of being naked in front of people as anyone else.

Nudity in itself is natural and not at all obscene, but not everyone has a pure mind, trust me it is for the better that you remain covered, or risk inciting unwanted attention.

It must be purely down to social convention. I'm a nudist and I know for a fact that kids are completely oblivious to nudity (theirs and others') until they 'learn' that it's embarrassing or inappropriate.

Some of the time i only wear clothes because other people would only disapprove of my nakedness and i´ve never got it either.

Edit: I also think that wearing clothes can be more of a sexual display than not, because they can augment your appearance.

Walk out in public in the nude and let me know what happens.

Ok, isn't that a picture of your arm?

    Nudity in taste is ok.

Too much of it can be considered porn.

We are taught to be offended i personally have no problem with naturism but i think it should be restricted to licensed beaches and clubs i have no problem with porn either.
