Are old people really wise?

Or do they just think they are? What do they really know that young people don't? Maybe they are right about some things, but the other things are just opinion, right?

Old people have experience that comes with a life time. To me wisdom is a mixture of experience, logic, and personality. So some may not be wise. Some younger people could be wise.

Old people are more wise because they have lived so long and experienced life with it's trials and tribulations.

Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is the ability to know that when you are confronted with a life situation, question or problem, you have the tools and knowledge to work them out for the most positive out come. When you are old and gray should you live that long, you may think you are pretty wise as well because your lessons of life have taught you right from wrong and to make the best choices from the experiences.

Some old people are wise and others are not. It is true wisdom

comes thru age if you accept it.

True wisdom is from God. If a older person that heart this:

    Proverbs 9:10 (New International Version)

10 "The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom,

and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding

    Then they are really wise.

old people experienced life, that is some of the best teaching you can get....they know way more than young people...and no, i am not old but im not a teenager either...old people also can be opinionated and not very willing to change w/the times so it really depends what the subject is ...but bottom line, when they give you advise, it is worth listening to..when you get a little older you will see it for what it is....

Some old people are, but some of the advice is not good. Just listen to what sounds good to you. They have been through some things we have not, and young people think they know, but we really need to expirence life more.

Sometimes they are, but not all of anyone is ever anything. Older people who are wise are that way because of the lifetime of experience they've had. They've made correct choices as well as mistakes that they have learned from and can teach young people.

Try to keep an open mind.

Nobody's perfect. I've met very smart young people and some very ignorant old people, but never underestimate the knowledge that comes with experience. In most cases, I would take advice from an elder than from someone my age.

I think most people believe they are just because they have lived longer and have experienced more in life. However, old folks (most) can't begin to understand how to email for example IE; My grandma. So I am one up on the wise factor then them. I keep telling myself this.

I've met some pretty ding-dongish elders so I don't think it is entirely true.

Experience, young boy. A large % of the persons using this site (at this very moment I might add) have little to none. I see people make the same mistakes OVER AND OVER, but my advice seems fairly marginalized.

Most of the old folks I've met I could honestly say were wise people. The wisdom they spoke came from having "been there....done that" in their lives.

Yeah, I think that's the jump they have on us young whipper-snappers....age....not just a AARP card!
