can my child take a leapster 2 on a plane?

She has headphones for it, but I just want to make sure it won't be confiscated from her before boarding.

    Yes.

I'm a former Flight Attendant and I fly a lot now with my three kids. They always bring electronical toys and through numerous countries, none has even been questioned.

Electronic products are allowed as long as they don't have any sort of radio transmission or draw in a signal from the outside. That would mean a toy with remote contarol and even then they are allowed if the remote isn't used. If a Flight Attendant takes a look at it, he or she is only checking that it's not using the internet.

Your biggest risk (as a mom talking) is having the child lose it in the airport so you are warned! Depending on your child's age and ability, you may want to keep it yourself until on board.

Those game cards also go missing so easily so do a check before landing.

Make sure you have extra batteries or fully recharged before leaving.

About 8 years ago, I wrote an article on flying with children for an expat newsletter. Over the years many parents have contributed. I later put it on a blog so that parents had access to non-commercial information from someone with both practical and professional experience on the web.
