Anarchy is the absence of any form of government.

Chaos is a state of utter confusion whether a form of government exists or not.

Source(s): I just gave, almost word for word, the definitions of anarchy and chaos. And some nitwit gives me thumbs down?

Anarchy is society without any class distiction, and without property in the sense you know it now. Anarchy is a politic and is very, very unfortunately misunderstood by fanatics who want to throw firebombs and kill people. Anarchy does not, in any way, have to coexist with chaos. A true anarchist would never throw a molotov cocktail at anyones car... Anarchy, as I stated above, is a classless society where no one is better than anyone else, no ultra rich or ultra poor, no governing bodies... a communal agreement of sorts. It doesn't mean no laws as someone suggested, just no governing bodies; someone governing you has a certain amount of controll and therefore can not be equal ;) Anarchy works very well in small groups, human dynamics make it difficult for a large group (over 100) to exist in Anarchy... It requires a great deal of respect for others, espeically when you don't like them, which many people simply can not do. Oh, Chaos; chaos is a state of extreme disorder and craziness. Chaos is the same as entropy, randomness. Riots are chaotic because so many unpredictable actions are being taken by so many people. Anarchy can become chaos but chaos can never become anarchy.

    Chaos And Anarchy

  • 1 decade ago

Anarchy means no government, and anarchy is not possible for very long before somebody takes control in the political vacuum. We all live in anarchy, it's just that influential people have taken the reins.

Chaos means disorder. It could be a consequence of anarchy, but isn't necessarily.

Anarchy is considered a form of government when there is no government. Some think that this is the ideal system, but they fail to realize that the reason we have government is to secure our God-given rights. Unless government is strictly limited (for example, by our Constitution), government not only does not protect our rights, it becomes the main force in destroying them.

So we need government if we are to be free, but we must monitor the actions of those we elect. We cannot trust them to do the right thing. Unless they are under constant scrutiny, they will sell out to those who buy their favors. We see this today. We have elected criminals who do not obey the Supreme Law of the Land, and we are suffering because of it.

Chaos is just a term for lack of order. Anarchy produces chaos, and eventually the people demand that some strong man, like Hitler take control. Many times, Anarchy is advanced by would be tyrants who wish to overthrow the existing order, and replace it with tyranny.

Anarchy doesn't HAVE to mean chaos, it's just become a byword for it

Anarchy is lawlessness, but doesn't necessarily dictate that the behavior that occurs during lawlessness is going to be civilized or otherwise.

Chaos is absolute randomness, counter-intuition, and is often destructive.

Chaos is a TYPE of anarchy, a negative type.

Example: Anarchists don't actually support chaos, they just believe that lawlessness would actually result in greater order and benevolence overall because they believe laws and governmental institutions to be more negative than positive.

you have to be more specific than 'anarchy'

there are many different types of anarchist political theory and the resulting organization of society and the means of production.

What's important to remember that anarchy (theoretically) dissolves the need for government. As with socialism, the political ideas of anarchism are had to imagine to be applied in reality because we have lived with capitalism as long as anyone can remember. Think how hard it would be for feudal serfs to wrap their minds around free market capitalist theory.

    Anarchy precedes chaos.

Anarchy is the absence of or destruction of organization. It destroys productivity.

    Without productivity....

We all starve and/or freeze if we don't kill each other first.

It will strip the thin veneer of civilization off and the worst of human characteristics will emerge.

Inhibiting factors of civilized morals and ethics will be gone.

    It's every man for himself.

Then religion will be the ONLY control left. THAT won't go over well with those who hate religion.
