Have you a moment for Silence? A poem?

Silence

Yes,silent is the cry of fear,

When unknown things are creeping near.

With breath held in to stem the scream,

As ghastly things spring from a dream.

To lurk in darkened hallway near,

Yes silent is the scream of fear.

On webbed feet with blistered skin,

Such monstruos demons lurch within.

They prowl the house while midnight stands,

In darkened corner, chilly hands

of time adjust the Twilight Zone.

Yes, fear screams silent when alone.

While laughter cackles loudly here,

And scorn speaks with a madman's sneer,

Silence, alone, will scream in fear.

People "hear" different things in while in silence.

For some it's fear and "silent screams" . . .Others it's light, ease and peaceful wonder.

    Poem notes . . ."lurk in darkened hallway"..."silent screams"...the "unknown"..."fearful".

All have some form of "shadows" and varied levels of "fear" within them.

When clarity comes about, the fear, "shadows", and "unknown" have light cast on them. Then the "silent screams" transform into soft breath of wisdom and ease.

Any shadows formerly feared are then no longer dark and unfamiliar. Their now seen clearly and welcomed as shadow of a loved one, lush tree, welcoming house . . .

"Your vision will become clear only when you look into your heart. . . .Those who look outside their heart, dream. . . Those who look inside, awakens". ~Carl Jung ~

Excellent telling of a tale of silent fear. The kind of fear that the Hollywood B movie makers made the film "The Tingler" about in the late 50's or early 60's.

    Interesting.

The creatures you describe--I hope--are imaginary, but the fear of them is real. I don't remember exactly when I lost most of my fear of the dark, but a small portion of that remains.

We fear the dark because we fear the unknown. What creatures hide in those shadows, and how will they threaten us? Distant ancestors huddled around fires in caves, eyes darting about the shadows for things that might threaten them.

The fears you describe could be a holdover from that survival instinct that may have spelled safety long millenia ago. Or they may just be our modern idea of fun.

    And your poem is fun.

I have many moments for silence... fear has no voice only a reflection in the images conjured.
