It's really not necessary. If you're buying cat food at the grocery store, then it *might* be better to stick with the kitten line. I say might because grocery store foods are typically lower quality to start with, so the little bit of extra protein they add to the kitten foods might be of benefit. I recommend reading the guaranteed analysis and comparing that to the adult food. Chances are there will be very little difference, in which case it's absolutely fine to switch to adult food.

The best scenario would be to feed a true premium food. Most of those are suitable for all life stages. Examples are in the links below

Source(s): What to feed: http://www.catinfo.org/commercialcannedfoods.htm The best of the worst - dry foods: My personal picks are Wellness Core, Innova Evo or Nature's Variety Instincts. A new line that looks decent is Merrick's B.G. (Before Grain). I agree with some of the foods listed here but not all. I am happy to review ingredient lists if requested: http://cats.about.com/cs/nutrition/tp/premdrycatfo...

The reason why they say kitten food is important is for nutrition. When a young cat is developing, it is important they get the proper nutrients. If you are certain you are providing all the nutrition needed then it doesn't matter how they are getting it. The down-side with kitten food (the dry kind) is that dry foods in general have a high level of carbohydrates. This goes for regular cat food also. All cats need at least some wet food. And they are carnivores so meats can be beneficial, especially poultry. There is a very useful site which includes a lot of valuable information on cat nutrition at http://www.catinfo.org/

Your cat is still classed as a kitten up until they are about 1 years old. It is recommended that you provide kitten food for this time of their lives, but there is an increased risk of your cat becoming overweight so this should be monitored.

You can switch your kitten to cat food though and this will not harm your cats development in the long run.

    Hope this helps :)

I don't feed my 6 month old kitten, kitten food. I just feed him adult cat food, the same I feed my 15 year old cat. I don't think it really matters. So no, you don't have to feed your's kitten food until she's 1 year old.

Kitten food contains vitamins and mineral vital for a kittens growth. I would keep on giving you kitten this food till it is atleast 8 months.

BEWARE your kitten is getting alot of food per day !!! your kitten should only be getting to meals a day so just check your daily amounts

    good luck !!! have fun

Kitten food is great for her growth and health, but isn't absolutely necessary, You will still have a healthy kitty if you don't feed it to her till she's a year old, but it's definitely recommended.

i do no longer think of you opt for complication with regard to the canned cat nutrition, purely make useful that any dry nutrition which you provide her is very for kittens. reason: the products are smaller and softer, they have little teeth and their digestive systems are actually not mature. shop showing her to the muddle field, she would be in a position to get the carry of it. it is common. One warning nonetheless:do no longer use scoopable muddle for youthful kittens. Why? it incredibly is super absorbent. muddle gets on on their paws, they lick it off and it finally ends up of their abdomen and intestines..they're too small and their our bodies are bodily immature. it incredibly is like putting a sponge interior them. that's positive for better greater mature cats and kittens.

She should be on adult food now. One meal of meat and biscuits out during the day.with water.

Has she been spayed?if not then shes old enough now
