What does this "Low Power USB" warning on my Mac mean?

Okay, I tried plugging in my camera through the hub on my keyboard (it worked), then when I unplugged it and plugged my iPod USB connector back in it says something like "This USB device needs more power than is available". I tried unplugging the thing into another USB port and it still doesn't work! Can I get it to work if I have a seperate USB hub, or will I have to buy a 3rd-party connector? Thanks, your answers are always appreciated!

Update:

Here's the pop up that occurs:

Thanks for the help.

    Hello Lucifer Sam,

A lot of USB devices get their power and are able to charge using the USB connection. The bummer of using a USB hub is that you don't power many devices using these hubs, even if the hubs are plugged into an outlet. You'll simply need to use the USB that is directly connected to your Macintosh. Sorry. I've used several different brands of hubs and have never seen any of these work.

    3rd party connector should work.
