Why does striped toothpaste always come out striped, however much you squash the tube?

Have you ever noticed how the triple or double striped toothpaste always comes out in nice neat stripes... How every much you squish and squash the tube.

Why is this?

    The different colour paste will be partitioned until the exit: Probably with the use of a soft plastic wall.

    There are colour injectors in the nozzle of the tube, the colour of the paste inside is all one colour.

    There are little elves inside the tube and they keep the colours separate by magic.
