As a veteran of forty years in the Canadian Army, and so very proud of our country, and involved as a Player, Coach and everything in-between in our game, Hockey.

I witness something last night, Canada’s 2009 best junior hockey players, shift a gear and charge forward, after getting off to a distracting start, under control, came back from a three goal American advantage and defeat a confinement and skilled USA team, seven to four. We seen twenty thousand fans sink back into their seats and Scocia Bank Place go completely silent, I thought my poor old seventy-year-old heart was going to give in. Whatever happened to kick start the team , the twenty-two lads on the bench grew a few inches last night, between the first and second period The leadership of Coach Quinn, (Calm and collective, professional in every respect) and leading goal scorer, Tavares (I’ll show you), and the Team that heard the message, and responded. After gaining respectability and pulling even; Canada’s goalie Tokarski, making an unbelievable save, breaking the hearts of every American watching, as a matter of fact I turned my head away as I thought it was in. Sitting 12 rows up, just behind and to the left of Tokarske, probably had the best look at the action of anyone, except the two players involved; a phenomenal and blood stopping save of all time, the Americans had felt the full blow of the Canadian door being slammed shut. The door was shut; the USA didn’t quit, nor did the Canadians, what a game. The last Canadian victory I witnessed which could hold a candle to this match was the 1972 Canada Russian series, when Henderson broke the hearts of the mighty Russian squad, after just about all of Canada thought we had lost at the game we had held up as our game. This night the Canadian Junior's took it back from the brink, it was a total team effort. We congratulate all, right down to the the seventh man in the stands, you out down yourselves,on this win. Now how will you guys cussing forward with stick in hand, towards the eventual goal, Gold; ever top this night?

I know you will, and know you can, as sure as the God made little black pucks, the quest for Gold will continue. This morning getting out of bed, thinking back to last night's game, the Canadian Junior IIHF representatives made me so proud to be a Canadian, we can all take a lesson from your example, "never give in".

For the Canucks it was bringing in Mike Gillis as General Manager. He has made some moves to make the team tougher (when Anaheim tries to push the Canucks around now, the Canucks just get tougher). He has also addressed problems when they need to be addressed. Top two goalies get hurt? No problem, he'll go out and pick up LaBarbera for a for 7th round draft pick. Finally, he's brought in Sundin - I'm not convinced Mats is worth all the money, but at least Gillis is doing everything he can to improve the team.

I was nervous about Gillis at first but he transformed the Canucks from a team that could only win when Luongo was a hot to a team that can still play over .500 when Luongo is with injuries.

Howie: that was one of the all time great games. Once the US players started beaking off after their third goal and pulled that stunt with the stick at the bench...they got what was coming to them. Hopefully we see a rematch in the final.

    For the Pens:

    - Winning the Winter Classic with Crosby scoring the winner in a shootout.

    - Malkin flying up the scoring charts and finishing 2nd in scoring, proving he is a superstar.

    - Sweeping the Sens in the first round of the playoffs after they beat the Pens out in the first round the year before.

    - Making it to the Stanley Cup Final!

    - The new 3rd jerseys are awesome too.

For the Leafs 2008 was a sign for better days coming.

I have to start with our run at the playoffs... even though we didn't make it to the playoffs the ride was fun! Then next has to be drafting Luke Schenn...That was a very happy day for me and probably many Leafs fans! Then comes the summer of many trades and acquirements... One of the biggest has to be getting coach Ron Wilson! Even though it was sad to see many leafs players leave town, it was a sure sign of rebuilding. Oh and Mats Sundin... had to be very memorable. Even though it took him forever to make a decision, then at the end leaving I have to admit I was happy he did something good for himself! Next, the start of a new season... oh and beating the Redwings in the season opener lol. Discovering the new talent on the Leafs! Oh and probably the biggest thing hiring Brian Burke as the GM and Manager . And last but not least Cujo getting his 450th win!

I guess 2008 has been a very big year for the Leafs and I can't wait to see what 2009 holds!

    Oh there was so much........

January 1st was something special. Especially since the Pens won.

The whole playoff run was beyound enjoyable. I had my laughs, my cries, my screams, and my happiness that I just had to run out of my house and share it with the world. From the 1st win of the playoffs vs. Ottawa (that I was at and celebrated until 2 am) until game 6 of the SCFs where the horn blew and we'd blown it.

^^^^^Especially Game 5 of the SCFs. Talbot's tieing goal, and Sykora's goal in 3 OT.

The Ty Conklin story was amazing. It was fun. Thanks Ty for saving our season!

Nov. 11 vs Detroit this season. Down 5-2 and Staal get's a hat trick to bring it to OT. Let's not forget about Fedotenko burry it.

....It makes me sad thinking about all of that too. 'Cos You never know when you'll get to star in the Winter Classic game again. You never know when you make it back to the SCFs/have a winning season. (Unless you're Detroit. :P Then their winning seasons will be sooner than later)

Opening night. A friend of ours had GLASS SEATS (so we scored big time there.) We lost in OT to the Canes, but the introduction at the beginning of the game was sick, the team played fairly well, and the season looked bright with all our offseason pickups.

On Feb. 26th when Adam Foote was traded to the Avalanche from the Blue Jackets. He showed up in Calgary in the middle of the first to play with the Avs. It was great because he got dressed and came out to sit on a bench where he didn't know half the guys he was playing with! It was awesome!

The invincible season in 2003-04 was incredible no one will ever see their team go unbeaten in the league. Beating inter milan 5-1 in the same season was also good and the season we reached the final of the champions league.
