Was Minnesota senator-elect Al Franken ever on Saturday Night Live?
He looks an awful lot like the character that used to do the "you're good enough, you're smart enough, and gosh darnit, people like you" skit.

Alan Stuart Franken (born May 21, 1951) is an American comedian, writer, liberal political commentator, and politician, first becoming famous as a writer and a performer for Saturday Night Live, and eventually writing and appearing in several films.
Franken and Davis were recruited as two of the original writers (and occasional performers) on Saturday Night Live from 1975 to 1980 and again from 1985 to 1995, although in the latter case only Franken returned as a performer, while Davis usually stayed behind the camera.
Since then, Franken has become more known for his political commentary, writing numerous best-selling books, and hosting a nationally syndicated radio show on Air America Radio. Following the conclusion of a recount, he was certified as the apparent Senator-Elect for the state of Minnesota; Norm Coleman continues to challenge the outcome.
On February 14, 2007, Franken announced his candidacy for the 2008 United States Senate election in Minnesota as a member of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, was endorsed by that party on June 7, 2008, and won the nomination in its primary on September 9, 2008.
On November 18, the Minnesota state canvassing board's certification of the pre-recount results of the election showed Franken trailing Senator Norm Coleman by 215 votes, or less than 0.0075 percent of the over 2.8 million votes cast. However, under Minnesota state law, an automatic recount was mandated because the official margin was less than 0.5% percent of the total votes cast. The recount began November 19.
By January 3, Franken had taken the lead by 225 votes. The canvassing board certified Franken's winning margin on January 5, officially completing the recount. Coleman's campaign filed an election contest on January 6 attempting to overturn the recount

Yes, he's a comedian and a script-writer.
He won 42% of the vote for the US Senate seat. There was a Libertarian party candidate that won 12% in that race. If the stupid Libertarians hadn't taken all those votes from the Republican candidate who won 41%, then Franken would be back in Hollywood where he belongs.

Al Franken is predicated on the Minnesota inhabitants to undertake a similar WTF physique of strategies that elected Jesse Ventura mixed with the wish & exchange message of Obama to experience a nebulous coat-tail into congress. he's a vapid moron who's important high quality to the left is his rabid hatred for Bush. certainly no-one that decried Palin as green has a leg to stand on whilst advocating this abject fool to represent the super state of Minnesota interior the subsequent congress. If he wins...I advise David Duke take yet another stab at it...cuz' HE would desire to WIN. God forbid.
