What is the role of a Groomsmen at a wedding?
I have been asked along with two of my other friends to be a groomsman at a wedding. I have never been a groomsmen or really ever been to a wedding so I need a little help. It is good sized wedding of ~200 people, mostly on the brides side. I am not the Best Man so I don't need a run down of what he does, but what do I do and what am I responsible for doing? One of my friends said I probably have to give a speech at the reception... Is this common? Can someone talk me through this because I am a little worried about disappointing the Groom. Can you please be super specific for that reason.
Thanks in Advance!!!

It is highly unusual that a groomsman gives a speech. Usually it is just the best man, sometimes the maid of honor as well.
If there is a guys night out, you will be invited to that. You might even throw in a few ideas to help the best man plan it. If you dont know the best man, at the least shoot off an email to him to introduce yourself. Check in with the groom once in awhile and see if hes doing ok.
Before the ceremony starts, you may be called on to fix a minor crisis or help grandma locate her keys. Do it.
At the wedding, you just stand up there and walk the bridesmaid down after the ceremony. There might be a dance for the bridal party at the reception (although some people are opting to not do this at their wedding), and then you should dance with that bridesmaid.
You should pay for your tux and shoes. Get measured at the tux shop on time so you dont cause delay. You should come to the wedding with a gift and card.
Other than that, just be a gentleman and tell the bride she looks beautiful!

It depends on the formality level of the wedding, but generally speaking, the groomsman's duties include the following:
Helping the groom with pre-wedding errands such as picking up the tuxes or suits
Paying for his own wedding apparel rental
Helping plan the groom's bachelor party, along with the best man and other groomsmen
And, of course, escorting a bridesmaid down the aisle at the wedding ceremony.
That's about it. The best man will handle all the other stuff, such as giving a toast, helping the groom distribute payments and tips to all the vendors, etc. As long as you act like a loyal friend and help the groom out with whatever he may need from you, you won't let him down. Usually, grooms are way more lenient and forgiving about their groomsmen than brides are about their bridesmaids. He mostly just wants his best friends up there with him on his big day. Good luck!

The role of a groomsmen is to show up. That's it. If the bride and groom want each person in the bridal party to make a speech, then you make one. Otherwise all you do is show up and stand there for pics.

They help with the ushering and they are the escorts down the isle for the bridesmaids. Only the best man is required to give a speech although all are welcome if you have a funny or poignant story to tell about the groom. Have fun

You'll show up, take pictures, walk with one of the bridesmaid's down the aisle. You might be asked to help seat guests before the ceremony (that is quite common).
You will pay for your own tux- remember that, and you'll be required to attend the rehearsal dinner and rehearsal the night before, any of the showers/pre wedding events you are requested to attend and, of course, the bachelor party.
