Becoming an Organ Donor?

Is it true that if a person is an organ donor and they end up in the hospital and they are near death the drs. and nurses find out that the patient is an organ donor they won't do anything to keep that person alive? I always thought that drs. and nurses were supposed to do everything to keep that person alive. I am thinking about becoming an organ donor but now I am not so sure. My sister was the one who had told me that and I did not believe her.

No, that's not true. That's a myth propagated by the fearful and ignorant. It's two totally different teams who decide if you're brain dead and if you can donate your organs. Read this for more info: http://www.snopes.com/medical/emergent/donor.asp

This has always been a very humorous subject for some reason being an"organ donor." Here is some great information that could be great help for you. I have two links below the first is info on being an organ donor and second is the oath doctors must take. I am pretty sure majority of doctors spend their whole lives to save lives. So with all that years of schooling and learning, I am pretty sure their main objective is to SAVE A LIFE. But of course we have our quacks, and killers but I believe that's why they spend most of their whole life obtaining their doctorate.

That is definitively untrue. It's against hospital ethics. But anyway, I'd put my organs to good use rather than keep artificially alive plugged to a machine.
