Allergic reaction to penicillin: Still have rashes after 3 weeks?

I broke out with rashes after taking penicillin so I stopped taking it. But that was three weeks ago now and I still have rashes all over. They are a little better but not much. My doctor says they will go away sooner or later. I have been taking Zyrtec daily. Do I need to switch to something else? Is this normal? Anyone with medical credentials out there? Thanks!

I had hives for 9 days after stopping penicillin. My doctor told me to take benadryl. It helped a little. I eventually had to get a shot. Ask your doctor.

The best thing to do is take a bath with water that is cooler. Get a old sock and put dry oatmeal in the sock then tie the sock and let it float around in the water with you. Its a cheap way of helping the skin without buying expensive lotions. Also aloe will help sooth the rash.
